Pagan Wanderer Lu is an electronica fuelled indie pop songwriter. He first played in 2000 whilst living in Aberystwyth and having lived in various places since then he seems to have settles in Cardiff where he now lives and writes.
Over nearly seven years of constant gigging, recording and self-releasing Pagan Wanderer Lu has evolved from an acoustic singer songwriter into genre-ignoring electronica & guitar based performer. His style encompasses noisy alt. rock, danceable rhythms, punk, electronic techno, summery piano pop, moody synths, and acoustic folk. Always with one ear firmly on a tune to carry his sharp lyrics, which range from ascerbic satire to soul-searching and conscience-probing.
In January 2006 he was invited to headline Drowned In Sound's 'Picks for 2006' to a sold out crowd at Camden Barfly - which he promptly accepted. The gig ended in chaos with no fewer than three stage invasions.
His first London gig led to an offer of an EP on Brainlove Records. 'The Independent Scrutineer' was recorded with labelmate Napoleon IIIrd and was released in November 2006. On the release day he appeared live on Xfm for John Kennedy backed by follow Brainlove band Junkplanet.
A BBC Radio Wales session was broadcast in June 2006 by Adam Walton, who describes him as a 'warped genius'. He was also featured by Huw Stephens on his Radio One show.
2007 will see relentless gigging and touring, including the first gigs with 'The Volunteers' his Cardiff-based backing band.
New single 'Tree of Knowledge' released 22/10/07, followed by the 8-track EP 'Perfection R.I.P.' on 05/11/07.
