Melissa Joan Hart

Originally running from 1996 to 2003, 'Sabrina, the Teenage Witch' saw 16-year-old high school student Sabrina Spellman find out she was a witch, with her aunts Zelda and Hilda offering guidance as to how she should run her life with her newly discovered powers. Melissa Joan Hart took the leading titular role and she, along with her fellow cast mates from the original series came back together over the weekend at LA Comic Con.

The reunion of Hart, Nick Bakay, Caroline Rhea, Beth Broderick, Nate Richert, Alimi Ballard, David Lascher, Soleil Moon Frye and Elisa Donovan came after it was revealed a brand new Sabrina-centric series would be coming to The CW, darker than what we had seen before. Set to introduce an all-new cast, and predicted to follow the stories told in the comic books 'The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina', it's going to be unlike any of the 'Sabrina' episodes of the past and be set in the same universe as 'Riverdale'.

Where Did It All Go Wrong For Alt-Fest's Crowdfunding Campaign?

Marilyn Manson Neil Young Melissa Joan Hart Gary Numan

Crowdfunding has altered the landscape of contemporary culture, overwhelmingly for the better. No longer are fans subject to the whims of record labels and their increasingly focussed budget. For fans, the power is in their hands and they can directly contribute to ventures of their favourite acts bands, fund the continuation of their best-loved shows and play their part in the investment of innovative technologies. The successes are widespread- from Amanda Palmer’s well reported project to fund a new record, tour and book to the Veronica Mars movie project and Neil Young’s Pono high quality music player, crowdfunding is increasingly the source of cultural revolution.

Marilyn Manson At The Golden Gods Awards
Marilyn Manson pulled out of the event after cancellation rumours took hold.

But for every project that far exceeds its stated aims, there’s one that fall flat on its face. Former teen TV star Melissa Joan Hart raised a paltry $51,000 out of her stated aim of $2 million for a romantic comedy called Darci’s Walk Of Shame. In contrast, Kristen Bell’s Veronica Mars project reached its $2 million target in just 12 hours. And now another aborted project can be added to the list of abject crowdfunding failures. The three day event, which was due take place on August 15-17th in Kettering, sold a not too shabby amount of tickets- 7,500- but this was far from enough to make the event financially viable. What’s more, only £61,000 of a projected £1.2 million was raised through Kickstarter, far from enough to pay for headliners Marilyn Manson and Gary Numan. The problems that befell the event highlight the very facts that drive a crowdfunding project into the ground.

Melissa Joan Hart "Explains It All" - Including Drug Use - In Memoirs

Melissa Joan Hart Ashton Kutcher Mark Wilkerson Nick Carter

Melissa Joan Hart, best known to any fan of 90s teen TV as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, will reveal details of her more dubious past experiences in her upcoming autobiography Melissa Explains It All.

Melissa Joan Hart
Melissa Joan Hart admits to having experimented with drugs.

Hart may have presented a squeaky clean image whilst starring as Sabrina on the hit ABC (later The WB) show, yet what was really going on in the actress' own life was something quite different. Certain, less wholesome, accounts are included in the book, specifically one incident where Hart took ecstasy, kissed a girl in a limo (shock, horror) and attended her Maxim photo shoot still high, the NY Daily News.

Melissa Joan Hart Confirmed As New Nutrisystem Spokesperson

Melissa Joan Hart

She starred in Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Clarissa Explains it all, now Melissa Joan Hart’s going to be explaining how you can magically lose wait by following the advice and dieting tips of health company Nutrisystem!

In a statement by the company, they confirmed the 36 year-old actress as their newest spokesperson, enthusing that they were "thrilled to be helping and working with Melissa,” according Entertainment Today. "She mirrors our values and will resonate with our customers as authentic. Moving forward, you'll see us have an appropriate mix of inspiring celebrities and real life customers who have also enjoyed success," the statement said.

With nothing much coming up on her schedule, Hart also seemed understandably excited about getting involved with the company, who specialize in dietary plans and products. "I love working with Nutrisystem. The program is really delivering results for me and I look forward to long term success, staying motivated and helping others do the same” she commented . Currently Hart’s only ongoing concern acting-wise is the third season of Melissa & Joey. ABC announced last summer they would renew the series, though its future beyond that of course relies entirely on how the ratings go for it over the next few weeks. She hasn’t had a film role in a good couple of years.

Melissa Joan Hart Confirmed As The New Face Of Nutrisystem

Melissa Joan Hart

Great news for fans of Nutrisystem and long-forgotten 90’s children’s show Sabrina The Teenage Witch: Melissa Joan Hart has been announced as their newest spokesperson! Righteously thrilling news.

In a statement by the company, which specializes in weight-loss and dieting programs, Nutrisystem said that it was "thrilled to be helping and working with Melissa,” according Entertainment Today. "She mirrors our values and will resonate with our customers as authentic. Moving forward, you'll see us have an appropriate mix of inspiring celebrities and real life customers who have also enjoyed success," the statement said.

Hart also seemed pretty psyched about teaming up with the company, and in her own statement said "I love working with Nutrisystem. The program is really delivering results for me and I look forward to long term success, staying motivated and helping others do the same.” Good stuff. Hart will certainly have plenty of time to be gallivanting around extoling the virtues of Nutrisystem, given that her film career has dried up considerably and only the third season of Melissa & Joey to look forward to this spring. ABC announced last summer they would renew the series, though it’s future beyond that of course relies entirely on how the ratings go for it over the next few weeks. One thing you can be sure of, Hart will be looking thin and healthy in it, given her selection by Nutrisystem.

Lindsay Lohan And Other Celebs Have Their Say On Hurricane Sandy

Lindsay Lohan Jerry Seinfeld Melissa Joan Hart Kim Kardashian

Safe from Hurricane Sandy in their ivory towers, snuggled in their million tog quilts whilst they see what other people are saying about them, the celebs are have their say on Frankenstorm.

"WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane (i'm calling it Sally)..? Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace," Lindsay Lohan posted on her Twitter page, possibly forgetting that 'Sally' has actually claimed human lives, and has the potential to take more. "9 months from now hopefully we will have some cool Hurricane Sandy babies! On the west coast we never get to bond over weather panic. We're like oh no an earthquake for 2 seconds, then go to spin class or whatever," said actress Mindy Kaling, who has presumably watched a few disaster movies, and decided that everyone, when faced with the possibility of death or loss of a loved one, fornicates. No Mindy. Kim Kardashian, not known for her immediate sense of empathy, sent a far more sensible tweet, which read "Back in Miami now. Missed the storm. I'm praying for everyone on the East Coast. I hope everyone is safe!" and on a similar vein, Melissa Joan Hart wrote "I have at least 2 family members in evacuation zones that haven't left and 2 more in the center of Sandy. Praying they stay safe!"

Jerry Seinfeld, who basically made a living out of noticing things, noticed the New York City mayor's attire. "Mayor Bloomberg going with zip up neck sweater to fight Sandy. Shows preparedness. Windy: zip it up Storm over: back up." Presumably he meant, "back down"? Anyway, our thoughts here at Contact Music go out to anyone affected by the storm. Good luck.

Recess: School's Out Review

Weak

The bad guy in "Recess: School's Out" is a megalomaniacal ex-elementary school principal determined to do away with summer vacations by altering the orbit of the Moon so there's no more summer.

Voiced by James Woods -- one of Hollywood's greatest scenery-chewers -- this rakish, oily antagonist is by far the most amusing thing about this latest in a seemingly endless glut of cheaply animated TV 'toons cashing in on the purchase power of kids.

Such movies are not concerned with style, creativity or entertainment value for anyone of a discerning age. They don't even bother aspiring to be a "Toy Story," a "Pokemon") and rarely much more than just expanded episodes of the show that spawned them, blown up to 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

Not Another Teen Movie Review

Good

If ever there were a genre long overdue for a vicious lampooning, it would have to be the cliché-plagued fantasy factory of the witless teen comedy/romance.

The popular jock, the cruel cheerleader, the arty-dreamy bespectacled girl, her shy geek best friend pining for her love -- these stock characters were glaringly unoriginal and badly acted back when John Hughes cauterized his "Pretty In Pink" formula into the heads of vacuous pubescents in the '80s.

Now the time for reckoning has arrived. A whole slew of central casting pop culture denizens -- and the literally dozens of throwaway flicks they inhabit -- get skewered something fierce in the ribald and relentlessly, no-jokes-barred satire "Not Another Teen Movie."
