Lindsay Lohan Biography

Lindsay Lohan (born 2.7.1986)

Lindsay Lohan is an American actress, singer and model. She rose to fame with the 1998 Disney remake of The Parent Trap but in latter years, has become renowned for her controversial off-screen antics, which have landed her in trouble with the law.

Lindsay Lohan: Childhood

Lohan was born in New York City, to Donata and Michael Lohan. She has three younger siblings, all of whom are also either actors or models. Lindsay's parents married in 1985 and separated four years later. They were reunited once more but finally separated again in 2005, divorcing two years later.

Lohan began working in show-business at the age of three, when she started working as a child model with Ford Models. She modelled for the likes of Calvin Klein and Abercrombie Kids as well as appearing in a Jell-O ad with Bill Cosby. By the time she played the role of Alli Fowler in Another World, at the age of 10, she was already considered a showbiz veteran.

Lindsay Lohan: Career

Lindsay Lohan's big break came in 1998 when she landed the role of estranged twins trying to reunite their divorced parents (played by Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson). The film was a huge box office success and film critics flagged Lohan's potential as a future Hollywood star.

Another key moment in Lindsay Lohan's career trajectory was the release of Freaky Friday. The film, released in 2003, starred Jamie Lee Curtis and led to the respected film critic Roger Ebert comparing Lohan to Jodie Foster. It also gave her the ability to show off her vocal talent, as she sang on the film's soundtrack, including the closing number 'Ultimate'. She also recorded four songs for the soundtrack to Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. The film was billed as a 'teen musical' and also starred Megan Fox and Adam Garcia.

Confessions. received mixed reviews but luckily for Lohan, she redeemed herself with the release of Mean Girls. The movie - the first of her films to be produced outside of the Disney stable - was a critical and commercial success, penned by Saturday Night Live star Tina Fey. Fey also co-starred in the film, along with Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried.

In 2004, Lindsay Lohan released her debut album, entitled Speak. It was soon to be certified Platinum and debuted at number four on the Billboard chart - a credible position for a child actor turned pop star. That year, she also started filming Herbie: Fully Loaded, during which she was hospitalised for a kidney infection, which was attributed to stress in her personal life.

Her second album, A Little More Personal (Raw) was released in 2005 but didn't fare quite so well as its predecessor, as it debuted at number 20. Her next major film came the following year - Just My Luck - which reportedly earned the star over $7 million, despite poor reviews and a 'Worst Actress' nomination at the Golden Raspberries awards.

Lohan then began to focus on smaller, independent movies, such as Robert Altman's A Prairie Home Companion, which also starred Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Woody Harrelson and Kevin Kline. She then went on to appear in Bobby, written by Emilio Estevez and starring Sharon Stone, Laurence Fishburne and Heather Graham. In Chapter 27, Lindsay Lohan plays the role of a John Lennon fan who befriends his killer, Mark David Chapman (played by Jared Leto). The 2007 film Georgia Rule saw Lohan appear onscreen along with Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman.

2007 proved to be a troubled year for the actress, who withdrew from filming an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's A Woman of No Importance. The official line from her publicist was that she needed to focus on 'getting better'. Her Alcoholics Anonymous' attendances had already been widely documented at this point, as had her visits to rehab. She was also unable to start filming Poor Things as she was - not once but twice - arrested for DUI (driving under the influence) just before filming was due to start.

In 2008, Lindsay Lohan made her first screen appearance in a while, when she appeared on Ugly Betty, guest starring in four episodes. In 2009, she starred in Labor Pains, a comedy about a woman that pretends to be pregnant, although the film was eventually demoted to a TV network special, rather than receiving a theatrical release.

Despite being cast as Linda Lovelace in the film Inferno, film producers have stated that Lohan is 'impossible to insure', owing to her previous erratic behaviour, much of which directly affected her ability to work. She did, however, go on to appear in Robert Rodriguez's exploitation movie Machete. The film was hugely popular and also starred Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and Steven Segal. This, however, was to be her last onscreen performance for a while, as speculation over her private life started to overtake interest in her acting abilities.

Lindsay Lohan: Personal Life

Lindsay Lohan has been romantically linked to a number of high profile men, including Calum Best (son of British footballer George Best), Aaron Carter and James Blunt. She also famously dated DJ Samantha Ronson, the sister of the record producer Mark Ronson.

Lohan has been arrested a number of times for driving under the influence of alcohol. She has also been arrested for breaking her bail conditions, failing alcohol tests whilst under house arrest and for possession of cocaine.

As much as it pain me to say this, I have to agree with you Chopin. I can only see this ending badly and it's a shame; she showed so much promise when she was younger.

I don't usually sound off on things but I just had to this time. What a narcissistic MORON you are for actually thinking that the baby in the ETRADE commercial was modeled after you. Your first name is SO COMMON. I am sure when the babies name was said no one actually thought about you...your a freaking IDIOT.
