Kelly Osbourne Biography
Kelly Osbourne (born 27.10.1984)
Kelly Osbourne is an English singer, actress and TV personality who was brought to public attention when her family starred in the TV reality show The Osbournes.
Kelly Osbourne: Childhood
Kelly Osbourne is the daughter of rock singer Ozzy Osbourne, the former lead singer of Black Sabbath and Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's wife and manager. Sharon Osbourne also hosts her own TV chat show as well as appearing as a judge on the talent show Pop Idol.
Kelly has an older sister, Aimee, who declined the offer of appearing in The Osbournes and a younger brother Jack. She has a half-sister, Jessica Hobbs and a half-brother, Louis John Osbourne, from Ozzy's first marriage. Sharon and Ozzy also adopted Robert Marcato when his mother died.
Kelly lived in over 20 different homes when she was growing up, as she travelled with her father when he was touring with his band.
Kelly Osbourne: The Osbournes
Along with Sharon, Ozzy and Jack, Kelly was propelled into the spotlight when MTV aired their reality show, The Osbournes. The show chronicled the day-to-day life of a dysfunctional family. Kelly was portrayed in the show as foul-mouthed and wickedly honest.
Kelly Osbourne: Musical Career
Kelly used the success of the show to launch her own music career. She released a cover of Madonna's 'Papa Don't Preach,' a nod to the now famous relationship she has with her own father.
The album Shut Up! Was released in 2002, but sales were disappointing. Bad critical reviews led to her being dropped by Epic Records in 2003.
However, later that year, Sanctuary Records released a duet between Kelly and Ozzy, of 'Changes,' and old Black Sabbath song. The song reached number one in the UK charts.
In 2007, she was awarded the role of Mama Morton in the West End musical, Chicago. She was forced to pull out of the final performance of the play, due to a back injury. She is the youngest actress every to have played the part. Much speculation was made about the apparent airbrushing of the promotional shots for the play, which appeared to make Kelly look significantly slimmer than she actually is.
Kelly Osbourne: TV work
In 2006, Kelly was asked to present a spin-off of a popular UK reality TV show, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now!
One-off presenting gigs and appearances include the 2002 MTV Movie Awards, Top Of The Pops Saturday, the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards, Popworld, The Friday Night Project, and Radio 1's Zane Lowe show. She was also one of the judges on 2006's Making Your Mind Up.
Kelly Osbourne: Personal Life
Kelly has had a public spat with singer Christina Aguilera, calling her a 'fat cow' and making disparaging remarks about her singing style. Ironically, Aguilera bought the Osbournes' mansion from them.
In 2004, Kelly was admitted to rehab, for addiction to painkillers. A year later she relapsed and checked into another drug treatment centre.
