Kate Moss is an English supermodel, well known for he waif-like physique as well as her high profile advertising campaigns and highly publicised relationships.

Kate Moss: Childhood

Kate Moss was born in Croydon, England. Her mother, Linda Rosina, was a boutique manager and her father, Peter Moss, was an airline clerk. She has one younger brother, Nick. She also has a half sister and a half-brother.

Kate attended Ridgeway Primary School and then Riddlesdown High School. Although Kate was good at sports, she struggled with academic work, receiving one C in Science GCSE, but only achieving D's and F's in all other subjects.

Kate Moss: Discovery and early Career

The founder of Storm Model Management, Sarah Doukas, discovered Kate Moss at JFK Airport in New York. Kate was returning from a family holiday in the Bahamas and was aged 14 at the time.

Aged 15, she appeared in a black & white photo shoot for the Face magazine, titled 'The Third Summer of Love'. The photo shoot would become her springboard to international modeling success. Kate's super-skinny figure was a contrast to the curvy supermodels of the day (including Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell).

Kate Moss has featured in a number of magazine polls, including coming eighth in Maxim's 50 Sexiest Women of 1999 and 22nd in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women of 1995. In Arena's 150th issue, they named Kate their Sexiest Woman.

In 2007, she made her debut listing in the Sunday Times Rich List. The report estimated that she was worth £45 million at the time, ranking as the 99th richest woman in Britain. The same year, Forbes magazine named her as the second of the world's highest-earning models, having earned a total of $9 million in the previous 12 months.

Kate Moss's most famous ad campaigns include Calvin Klein (in which she posed nude for its Obsession perfume range), Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Burberry, Chanel and Stella McCartney, among many other high profile fashion houses. She has also appeared on over 300 magazine covers, including Vogue, Vanity Fair, The Face, and W.

Kate made her first venture into fashion design when she designed a clothing range for Top Shop, in collaboration with Katy England. Top Shop is reported to have paid Kate Moss £3 million for her work on the range. Following this, Moss also launched a self-titled fragrance and body lotion range with Coty.

Kate Moss: Musical Connections

Kate Moss has appeared in a number of music videos, for Primal Scream, The White Stripes, Elton John and Johnny Cash.

She has also appeared on songs by well-known artists, She sang on Primal Scream's version of 'Some Velvet Morning' as well as singing the phrase "is she more beautiful than me?" on Babyshambles' "La Belle et la Bête" whilst she was dating Pete Doherty, the band's front man. Four songs on the band's second album contained Moss' co-writing credits.

Kate Moss: Personal Life

Following Kate's high profile relationship with American actor Johnny Depp, the model began dating the editor of Dazed & Confused magazine, Jefferson Hack. On 29.9.2002, she gave birth to their daughter, Lila Grace Moss.

Kate has also been in a long-term, on-off relationship with Pete Doherty, of the band Babyshambles and formerly of The Libertines. The tabloid papers made much of the relationship. Doherty was frequently in trouble with the police throughout their relationship, often for drug crimes. Doherty's addiction to heroin has been widely publicised.

In 2005, Kate was photographed snorting several lines of cocaine at a Babyshambles recording session. The photos were published on the front cover of The Daily Mirror. The scandal that ensued caused Kate to lose a number of lucrative modeling contracts. In the 1990s, Kate had previously successfully sued the Sunday Mirror for claiming that Moss had slipped into a coma after taking too much cocaine in Spain.

Kate underwent successful drug rehabilitation in Arizona. She urged Doherty to do the same, but he left the clinic without having finished the program. The couple spilt shortly after he left the clinic.

According to Forbes, Kate Moss earned more following the drug scandal than she did previously, despite losing many of her modelling contracts.

Following the split with Doherty, Moss began dating Jamie Hince, the guitarist for the band The Kills.
