The 33 Trailer

For most people in the modern world, they don't need to think about the consequences of modern day living, it's hard to think that people still need to mine land physically and often in treacherous conditions. In 2010 the world was reminded of just how risky that job can be.

When a 100+ year-old copper & gold mine in Chile suffers considerable damage to the shaft due to a cave-in, the world's news is quick to report the disaster. All life was thought to be lost and there was little hope of finding survivors, however deep inside the mine, a group of 33 men were fighting for survival. As the world learnt of their battle for survival, the onlookers could only imagine the tribulations the men inside faced. Main communication with the outside world was from one miner called Mario who was affectionately named 'super Mario', thanks to his videos, he could relay information to the support crew telling them about the men's wellbeing and progress.

Director Patricia Riggen's The 33 was filmed with the cooperation of the miners and tells their story from 700 meters underground. The 33 is Patricia Riggen's first major directorial role, though in 2012 she shot Girl In Progress starring Eva Mendes.

Heaven Is For Real Trailer

Todd Burpo has a fulfilling career as a businessman, fire fighter and pastor in a caring small-town community. He also has a loving family in his wife Sonja and two children Colton and Cassie. Like any idyllic family life though, he has been struck by grief, the most recent being the heartbreaking news that Colton must undergo immediate major surgery after collapsing on the brink of death. Afterwards, Colton reveals to his parents a series of revelations enough to shock the world. He recounts how he saw himself in hospital and describes the separate rooms his parents were waiting in, he reveals how he met his stillborn second sister and also accurately describes the grandfather he never met. Todd is convinced Colton has experienced a slice of the afterlife, but it's not enough to convince the sceptical town who are not ready to accept such a seemingly impossible truth.

Water & Power Trailer

Water and Power are twin brothers nicknamed so by their workaholic father; a blue collar worker at the Department of Water & Power of Los Angeles who insisted that you couldn't have one without the other. While Water is rising to the top in his illustrious political career, Power is caught up in a web of criminal deception as a cop in the LAPD, trying to keep the peace in the mean streets and struggling to work out whether he's doing a good job, or whether he is just like the gun-toting felons he's bringing in. After a particularly traumatic night, the pair reunite and find themselves in a motel room where they must join forces to survive - Water and Power have so many differences, but can they find common ground so they can work together just like their father always said they must?

Cesar Chavez Trailer

'Cesar Chavez' is the inspirational story of the celebrated American Mexican, labour leader and civil rights activist who devoted his life to improving the treatment of his fellow farm workers via attempting to rally 50,000 workers to stand up to the racial inequality and brutality at the hands of their employees.

Written by Keir Pearson (Hotel Rwanda) Chavez encapsulates the angst, horror and exploitation of the hard working farmers of America and the determination and bravery of Cesar Chavez who co-founded and lead the National Farm Workers Association during the non-violent, yet powerful, unprecedented actions committed by the farm workers in order to obtain the civil rights they deserved.

Chavez is a touching and moving biopic that represents the hope and aspiration of the working farmers in America during the .

Traffic Review

Weak

"Traffic" is a socially and politically grandstanding soap opera about the narcotics trade and the futility of the "war on drugs." It's a film about how that war is propagated by bureaucratic demagogues in the United States government, not because they think they can stem the flow of illegal substances but because they think saying they want to is a way to win elections.

OK. Point taken.

"Traffic" is also gritty and realistic feat of cinematic logistics, following no less than 15 major characters (and more than 50 speaking parts) through several complex, well-acted storylines about all sides of the drug trade -- from kingpins to cops to policy wonks to addicts. So my hat is off to the picture's ever-brilliant director, Steven Soderbergh ("Erin Brockovich"), who certainly does a fine juggling act, involving the audience in every story on a personal level.
