Infadels

What began as a form of cathartic therapy in 2003 has now turned into a sadistic form of musical entertainment.

Ladies and gentlemen - we are the Infadels. We are a song and dance band.

Crawling from a disastrous house share in deepest darkest London, we began life releasing our own records on vinyl (computers didn't exist in 2003 you see) on our very own Dead At Thirty records imprint.

The plan was simple. Release one record, then split. That record was a little tune called "Leave Your Body".

Having toasted our success on being the most short lived band of all time, we left the UK and went in our different directions. After a few weeks, word had got back to us that "Leave Your Body" was a bit of a success. In fact, unbeknownst to us, we had sold all 500 copies, been supported on Radio1 by the late John Peel and were even in the running for Best Electronic Act at the Diesel-U-Music awards.

At this point, we thought it best to reform.

Suddenly, the band that was never meant to be a band was being lauded

as the best live act in the country and, following our second

self-released record, "Can't Get Enough" signed to Wall Of Sound. From here on in, things got very interesting indeed.

We held on to our DIY ethics, continuing to self produce our music, running club nights and building our own web sites. Wall Of Sound were happy for us to work this way. After all, it saved them a job. Things were going great until the label started askingquestions like "when will the album be finished?", "what is happening with the album?" and "please, for the love of god, we need to release this album."

Enter stage right, Jagz Kooner, Primal Scream producer and sixth Infadel.

The record sent us around the world many times during which we broke one leg, one ankle, had fifteen stitches in one hand and played over 300 shows.

We picked up awards, dined with Tara Reid, swam in tomatoes in Spain, danced in gay bars in Russia and ran from armed police in Rotterdam.

Seems all a bit too good to be true? Well, it was.

Returning home at the years end having sold out the London Astoria2, things were already hanging by a thread. Having been ripped off for thousands of pounds and facing a tax bill the size of Brazil, we were literally days away from the Infadels garage sale to end all garage sales.

We were down on our luck and things were looking rather bleak... ...but we couldn't let the story end like that now, could we?.

Somehow, we hung on to our studio and started work on a new album in spring 2007. Based on the themes of survival, triumph over adversity and not letting the buggers take you down, the bare bones of the new record came together with reasonable ease.

In fact, demos were good enough for premiere league producer and Killing Joker, Youth to want to jump on board.

Once he was in the fold we were motoring again...and motoring at a speed that was quicker than quick-dry ronseal.

"Universe In Reverse" was created over 14 days in the late summer of 2007. It was created using only solar-energy as a resource and was propelled by haribo-sweets, the hells angels and a need to prove that you should never give up and let something great slip through your fingers.

So be careful out there...we're coming to get you.
