I Am Kloot (formed 1999)

I Am Kloot is a Mancunian alternative rock band. The lineup of the band consists of John Bramwell on guitar and vocals, Peter Jobson on bass and Andy Hargreaves on drums. The band is often compared to its contemporaries, Elbow and Doves and front man John Bramwell has also been compared to the likes of Stuart Murdoch (of Belle and Sebastian) and Morrissey.

I Am Kloot: History

I Am Kloot's debut album, Natural History was released in March 2001 in the UK, on the Wall of Sound subsidiary label, We Love You. This was followed two years later but their eponymous album, in 2003, which was released on the Echo label.

Initially, the band had intended to release 'Proof' asa promotional single for the album, but, after filming a video starring Christopher Ecclestone, the single was shelved and issues as a download only. This moment is seen by many as the start of the band's dispute with their label.

Their following LP, Gods and Monsters, was also released on Echo but another single, 'I Believe' was also cancelled at the last minute. However, later that year, I Am Kloot released the limited edition single 'Maybe I Should' after headlining some of their biggest gigs at London's Astoria. 2006 saw the release of I Am Kloot's John Peel sessions, which had been recorded in 2001 and 2004.

The fourth studio album from I Am Kloot was entitled I Am Kloot Play Moolah Rouge. 2009 then saw the band release a compilation of B-sides, rarities and unreleased tracks on a compilation entitled simply B.

In 2010, I Am Kloot released their next album, Sky at Night, which was produced by Elbow's frontman Guy Garvey and Craig Potter.
