was around the middle seventies when I first heard this brazen, young black man's voice. He was angry! We were angry! I was angry! Angry over the fact that it was a few years ago that they had just taken from us our black shining Prince. He was mad. We were mad. I was mad! Mad over the fact that our struggle for freedom had come to a screeching halt. He was loud! Loud and determined to be heard. And I heard him. I heard him loud and clear. I heard him when he said "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised". I heard him when he said "No Knock On My Brothers' Head". I heard him when he was saying that the spirit of Brother Malcolm will flourish in him as it has in me.

| I understand, you are one of our genius artist soldiers. My life was changed with the help of Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire , and of course yourself Mr. Gil Scott-Heron. I thank you for your strength you gave me in your music and your poetry keeping our eyes on what was really going on. I know how it feels when you think no one is listening, and your life has much work and value left in it my brother. The devil(present rulers of this world) has probably been after you for years. I won't name the hip hop artist that have taken the baton from you and PUBLIC ENEMY and is continuing the fight of dealing with a beast that's time will come soon. You in the meantime take care of yourself and know that,we love you as our own brother. Handle yours and we look forward to hearing from you soon. | ||

| I appreciate that someone at contactmusic.com found my web site - gilscottheron.com and posted my opening statement about Gil Scott-Heron. I just wished that they credited the author - ME, so as not to mislead anyone. Peace, Malcolm | ||
