Eagulls
Eagulls Biography
The second release from upstart label Not Even has been confirmed as 'Council Flat Blues', the debut vinyl release of Leeds-based punk band EAGULLS on 14th February.
Having self-released the long since sold out 'Songs Of Prey' cassette in April last year, the release of 'Council Flat Blues' with Not Even represents their debut 7" release. Coincidently it was the first song they ever wrote, a full year before Eagulls really existed as a full band.
Forming from the remains of local hardcore heroes Fast Point and Hordes, members Goldy (guitar), Liam (guitar), Tom (Bass), Henry (drums) met while studying at university in Leeds, later recruiting George (vocals) and playing live for the first time in February 2010.
Eagulls allowed the band to gather more diverse influences and take a small step away from hardcore pasts, creating a noise owing as much to the very English themes of early Blur as it does the visceral, distorted sounds of Wipers.
2010 has seen them taking to the stage with acts such as Crocodiles, Abe Vigoda, Jamie T, Spectrals, Cold Ones and a bunch more.
The lead track and accompanying b-side ' Acrostical' were recorded by Atko, of Leeds band Gentleman's Pistols.
