Drew Barrymore was born in Culver City, California on February 22, 1975. By 1982 she was a worldwide star, known for her role as Gertie in Steven Spielberg's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. By the end of 1982 Drew was known all around the world as the archetypal "cute little blond girl" but what was happening behind the scenes had far darker undertones.
Barrymore began drinking at the age of nine and started taking drugs a short while later. The pressures of so much fame and attention had obviously taken its toll on the young actress. By her 15th year Drew Barrymore had cleaned up her act - Drew spent time in a rehab clinic to help control her drink and drug problems and also released an autobiography "Little Girl Lost" which helped rejuvenate her career. Drew began to appear in movies again and by the mid 90's was back on track as a bankable actress.
Drew has always had a wild-child image and this was only bolstered by her flashing David Letterman during an appearance on The Late Show as a "birthday present", and posing nude for Playboy in 1995.
From this point Drew Barrymore has kept her career on track. She has made some great movies as well as some E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial 1982, Batman Forever 1995, Scream 1996, The Wedding Singer 1998, Charlie's Angels 2000, Donnie Darko 2001, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind 2002, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle 2003, Fever Pitch 2005, Music And Lyrics 2007 And Lucky You 2007
