The Oscars red carpet is not just for the ladies to make a fashion statement, this year the men have proven that they’re more than willing to take some risks on the big night. From white jackets, to ties and even shorts, some of Hollywood’s leading men really caught our eyes at this years Academy Awards.

Firstly we couldn't help but notice that Pharrell Williams seemed to be missing the bottom half of his trousers. The ‘Happy’ singer took a major red carpet risk and attempted the shortsxedo (its a new fashion term). The jury is really out on whether or not this one will catch on, but kudos to Pharrell for opting to do something different on the red carpet.

Jared Leto also didn't stick to black tie tradition, the ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star wore a white Saint Laurent jacket with a ruby red bow tie and a jewelled button shirt. He also topped off the look with pocket square and of course his perfectly glossy hair. We don’t know if they made a pact but also trying the white jacket was co-star Matthew McConaughey who further distinguished himself by adding a black waistcoat to the ensemble.

Leonardo DiCaprio at the OscarsLeonardo DiCaprio in Armani

Keeping it classic was Leonardo DiCaprio in an Armani tux with some fancy Jennifer Meyer cufflinks he was particularly proud of. Chiwetel Ejiofor also kept it classic but opted for some slim peak lapels for a more modern twist. Another classic look came from Joseph Gordon-Levitt who added a red pin to his lapel to put a personal touch on his Calvin Klein outfit. Also making a classic look his own was singer John Legend who sported a well cut single button jacket.

In the shoe department all eyes had to be on Michael B. Jordan, who wore some metal plated shoes, woah. Lets hope he wasn't kicking anyone under the table later in the night.

Bradley Cooper Oscars 2014Keeping it classic, Bradley Cooper

Going for something a little more vintage, Michael Fassbender went for a Tom Ford tuxedo with a shawl collar for a classic movie star look. Bradley Cooper made his classic tux stand out by teaming it with a white shirt with black buttons.

Will Smith at the 2014 oscarsGasp! A scarf! Will Smith shuns the bowtie

There were also some last night who shunned the traditional bow tie. Zac Efron replaced his with a skinny black tie as did Benedict Cumberbatch. Whilst Will Smith tried something different altogether in a Berluti tux which he teamed with a silk scarf and some velvet slippers.

Adding some colour to the night was Kellan Lutz who wore an ‘eco-friendly’ suit that had blue trimmed pockets. The suit was designed from environmentally friendly materials by Jomnarn Dul for Suzy Amis-Cameron's Red Carpet Green Dress company. However Kellan was outdone in the blue by Kevin Spacey who wore a navy Burberry tux with black lapels. Also embracing the coloured suit was Thor himself Chris Hemsworth who went for a burgundy jacket and waistcoat which actually really worked.
