The Olivier Awards: Who Was Best Dressed On The Red Carpet?

The stars of stage were out last night for the Olivier Awards, honouring Britain’s top theatre talent. On the red carpet high glamour ruled as no one trend dominated the evening’s style. From soft pastels to heavy monochrome the Olivier Awards brought the drama to the red carpet as the most theatrical fashionistas showcased their style. Here are some of our favourite looks of the evening.

Gemma Arterton Gemma Arterton wowed in Prada

Host for the night former Bond girl Gemma Arterton, showed off her stylish sophistication in a pale blue 3/4 length sleeve Prada gown. With her hair in a side swept bob, Gemma accessorised with some Faraone Mennella jewels adding a touch of dazzle to her classic outfit.

Also keeping a pale pallet was Samantha Barks, who wore a strapless lilac Burberry Prorsum gown teamed with silver jewellery. Currently starring in Fatal Attraction on the West End, Kristen Davis amped up the glamour in her floor length pink Monique Lhuillier gown which she teamed with diamond encrusted Fabergé accessories.

Going for a more simple elegance, Natalie Gumede opted for the classic little black dress. The slinky number was given an extra edge with its criss cross strap detail. The 'Coronation Street' actress chose a simple up do for the occasion, showing off some truly eye catching earrings.

Diana Vickers also went for the classic black, bringing a bit of gothic glam to the red carpet in her dress, which featured a high neck which opened down to show off a bit of décolletage. The look was topped off with heavy dark eye makeup and lightly tousled hair. Dame Judi Dench also wore black, teaming a velvet dress with a matching coat.

Working the monochrome trend was best actress winner, Lesley Manville, who chose a pleated chiffon dress with a white bodice and thick black straps. Also standing out from the crowd, Olivia Grant looked to be challenging the Great Gatsby in her shimmering, tiered, fringed, flapper style dress. The actress then kept things simple with nude make up and loosely curled hair.

Singer Alexandra Burke wowed in a stunning white beaded gown, which featured capped sleeves with a subtle embroidered floral print. She kept her hair in a simple undo, while her makeup featured a strong red lip and silver eyeshadow. Hayley Atwell also teamed a white dress with a red lip. Her form fitting cowl necked dress came from designer DSquared2.

Fittingly, some high drama was brought to the red carpet by Myleene Klass who wore a volumous black and white gown by Dennis Basso. The dress featured a long train at the back and an oversized floral print. Also adding some volume was Ruth Wilson, whose sheer black Erdem gown featured a ruffled bottom and slight train.
