Where Has 'The Sexiest Woman of All Time' Rachel Stevens Been Since 2008?
Rachel’s back, maybe for good, but where’s she been hiding since 'Strictly' in 2008?
Hot of the heels of Rachel Stevens being crowned FHM’s Sexiest Woman of All Time, there are now rumblings that her old group, S Club 7 are set to follow every other 90s pop band and reunite. But standing in our local newsagents and seeing a scantly clad Rachel staring out at us from the FHM cover made us feel like we’ve travelled back in time, to 2003. Come to think of it, the last time we remember seeing Rachel was on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2008. So where has the ‘sexiest woman of all time’ been for the last six years?
Rachel Stevens has been named FHM's Sexiest Woman of All Time
When the S Club party finally ended in 2003, their most famous member, Rachel Stevens unsurprisingly began a solo career thanks to a £1.5 million record deal. Rachel enjoyed steady chart success, particularly in the summer time when songs like ‘Sweet Dreams My LA Ex’ and ‘More More More’ could be worked into our holiday playlist. In 2005 her second album Come and Get It was met with critical acclaim, even managing an inclusion in The Guardians ‘1,000 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die’ list. But, despite the critical praise, the album failed to sell.
Stevens then appeared on BBC series ‘‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2008, finishing in second place, despite achieving the most perfect 10 scores in the show's history. But after her ‘Strictly’ appearance, Stevens seemed to step back from the limelight. After nearly a decade focusing on her pop career, Steven’s personal life took over. She married fiancee Alex Bourne in a lavish ceremony at London’s Claridges Hotel in 2009, where she allegedly walked down the aisle to S Club's ‘Never Had A Dream Come True.’ The following November, Stevens gave birth to a daughter, whom the couple named Amelie.
While there were rumours that Rachel was back in the studio in 2010, as of yet, no third album has materialised. She did, however, record five songs aimed at toddlers for website Ella's Kitchen in 2011, to help encourage little ones to eat their greens. Last year Rachel returned to television, albeit in New Zealand, to help out former All Saints singer Melanie Blatt on the country’s version of the' X-Factor', appearing in one episode.
Rachel became a mother for the second time just two months ago, when daughter Minnie Blossom was born. Yes, Rachel gave birth two months prior to that FHM cover, no wonder the singer’s said she wants to have the cover framed. As for her future plans, an S Club 7 reunion could be on the cards, after Rachel told ITV’s 'Lorraine', "It's always bubbling in the background talking about us getting back together." Perhaps after nearly six years away, Rachel might be ready to once again take the spotlight with or without her former S Club bandmates.
