Kanye West's interview with BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe sparked much conversation, and plenty more criticism of the rapper than he would have hoped for. Eager to poke fun of the self-appointed number one rock and roll star in the world, Jimmy Kimmel aired a seemingly harmless sketch in which Kanye's more outlandish comments were recreated by children, something that really didn't sit well with Kanye. Following a much-publicised online feud, the two were able to clear the air and explain themselves in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which aired on ABC last night; Wednesday, 9 October.

Kimmel went first in their exchange, explaining that he meant no hard feelings when he aired the lighthearted skit. He explained, "The main reason I did that is because I like to see kids curse...I think it's funny."

Kimmel then went on to admit that he took some of Kanye's comments out of context for the benefit of the parody, for which he is sorry. Having said his peace, Jimmy then left the floor open for Kanye, who had been sitting mostly in silence during Jimmy's opening talk, to explain his self and what he meant in his interview.

"When I did that interview, I was really vocal about a lot of things that I've been dealing with over the past 10 years when I was put in the classification of 'just a celebrity,'" he explained. Still not one for modesty, he continued, "I'm a creative genius and there's no other way to word it. I know you're not supposed to say that about yourself. I say things the wrong way a lot of times, but my intention is always positive."

He then went on to further explain that his explosive triade against Kimmel wasn't meant as a direct attack on the late night talkshow host, but rather the result of all of his pent up anger exploding in one direction; Kimmel's. Having met and had a positive rapport with Kimmel in the past, Kanye explained that he chose to direct his anger towards the comic, knowing that he would be able to take it in a lighthearted fashion. His anger, he explained, comes from the near-constant invasion into his life by the media, who he went on to say usually prints false and misleading articles about him and his family.

"I don't know if you know this - a lot of people think you're a jerk," Kimmel went on to tell Kanye, who greeted the opinion with a cold stare. But Jimmy did just leave the talk in awkward territory, as he then told the audience that in actual fact Kanye "in NOT a jerk" at all. The two agreed that Kanye has been given a tough time with the paparazzi, making it nearly impossible to live his life in private and increasingly stressing him out to the point of breaking.

Whether you think Kanye is a jerk or not, it probably does bother the Grammy-winning rapper anyway, as he went on to say that the only things he does care about are his family - especially his daughter, and his music. He concluded, "I'm not running for office, I'm just here to make good music...All I care about is my family, my little girl and protecting my dreams."
