Kanye West & Jimmy Kimmel Kiss And Make-Up On 'Live'
The feuding stars sat down on Jimmy's show and put their dispute aside for an in-depth chat on Wednesday's edition of 'Live'
Kanye West was Wednesday's (9 Oct.) big name guest for Jimmy Kimmel Live; a booking that was made all the more interesting given the recent fallout between the two over a parody Jimmy did of a Kanye interview that took place last month. The resulting chat was pretty funny, if not a little awkward at times, as Kanye's mask fell off long enough to reveal a real human person during his engaging talk with the late night chat host (ABC).
Kanye and Kimmel seem to have put their differences to one side
"The main reason I did that is because I like to see kids curse," Kimmel told Kanye in reference to the sketch, which features children acting out his interview with BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. Kimmel also admitted that he took some of Kanye's quotes out of context for comedic effect, stating that he only did the skit because "I think it's funny."
Kimmel then let Kanye explain himself, and explain what he meant during the borderline-bizarre interview. He disgressed, "When I did that interview, I was really vocal about a lot of things that I've been dealing with over the past 10 years when I was put in the classification of 'just a celebrity.' I'm a creative genius and there's no other way to word it. I know you're not supposed to say that about yourself. I say things the wrong way a lot of times, but my intention is always positive."
The rapper went on to explain that his tirade against Kimmel was the result of all his pent up agression coming to the fore, and having positive interactions with each other in the past, Kanye believed that they would be taken better if aimed at Kimmel rather than a media figure who may take serious offence. His anger, he says, comes from the constant media circus that surrounds him and the negative press that get published about him and his family, most of which he claims is false anyway. But this wasn't a platform for Kanye to let off some steam, as Kimmel came outright and told the controversial rapper, "I don't know if you know this - a lot of people think you're a jerk."
His statement drew a silent stare from Kanye as thinks took a turn for the awkward, but it was a turn that needed to be taken as Kimmel tried to rustle the Grammy winner from his high horse. T Jimmy's credit, a lot of people do think Kanye is a jerk, and the majority of those who do don't think that it's his depiction in the media that has created this identity for Kanye. But Kimmel digressed, telling people that Kanye "is NOT a jerk," and should they get to know the real him, most would think the same thing.
But at the end of it, Kanye might not really care all that much about what you do think of him, as he explained, "I'm not running for office, I'm just here to make good music...All I care about is my family, my little girl and protecting my dreams."
