At the Mecca of Geekdom - the San Diego Comic-Con International - the annual Comic-Con kick started in front of an eager audience this Thursday (July 18), with the our-day event already revealing some rather juicy pieces of information about what future films and TV shows have in store. Here's what we know so far, following the first two days of geeky gossip at the annual gathering.

Cobie Smulders
Smulders appeared in the 'Agents' pilot

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was one of the biggest talking points of the firsts two days, as ABC's Avenger's spin-off was discussed by a panel including Avengers director Joss Whedon and Agents... star Clark Gregg. Gregg discussed the miraculous recovery of his Avengers character Agent Phil Coulson, who was 'killed' by Loki in the first Avengers film only to return in time for his own starring series. Revelers got more than just a frank talk, as they were treated to a world premiere of the pilot episode for Agents..., which featured fellow Avengers star Cobie Smulders and was directed by Whedon. For those of you who weren't at Comic-Con, the series premieres on September 24.

In other Marvel related news, Vin Diesel dropped a pretty big hint that we will see him in an upcoming Marvel movie adaption. During the panel for the upcoming Riddick movie, Diesel all but confirmed his place on the upcoming Avengers 2 - which is due in cinemas May 1, 2015 - following months of speculation. Not giving too much away about his part or what we can expect, Diesel said to the audience, "I will say there is some very big news coming at the end of this month. Poor Marvel, poor, poor Marvel."

There was more Marvel discussion on offer in the shape of the Amazing Spider-Man, whose panel included to fully suited Andrew Garfield in his famous red and blue costume. The actor also went on to discuss his excitement around the film and promised fans an even more thrilling ride than the first time around when the Amazing Spider-Man 2 is released on May 2, 2014. Meanwhile director Marc Webb was busy teasing audiences over a potential new villain for the Spidey sequel, telling reporters to "Think about The Gentleman,” when quizzed about potential new villains.

Moving away from movies, the TV coverage was pretty extensive too, with the infamous 'Red Wedding' taking most of the attention away from the Game of Thrones panel. Over at the Walking Dead panel, the trailer for season four was a major talking point as the stars of the hit series proudly discussed the direction the show will now go in with the appointment of Robert Kirkman as writer. And there was good news for BBC America fans too, because the cult series Orphan Black will be back for a new season in April 2014.

The 'Red Wedding' was inescapable at the GoT panel

On top of all this, we were given even more insight into the upcoming Veronica Mars movie (yes, it really is happening!) as we learnt that the movie will follow Veronica as she and her old friends and enemies return to Neptune for a class reunion. Whilst over at a Jim Carrey-less panel at the Kick Ass 2 discussion featured an all-new, pretty NSFW trailer for the movie, which as you'd expect was filled with violence and slapstick laughs galore.

San Diego Comic-Con International 2013 continues until Sunday 21 and will feature even more behind the scenes discussion about Doctor Who, Godzilla, X Men and a heck of a lot more. Given what we've learnt already, we can hardly wait to see what treasure trove of goodies we have by Monday.
