The movie award season is nearly at and end, and as the Academy-Awards are only days away it is still unpredictable who the big winners will be? But one battle garnering lots of interest is the Best Supporting Actress category.

In a year which has seen arguably one of the greatest showcases of cinematic achievements, there are several performances that have stood among the rest, and two of those are from a couple of Hollywood's newest rising stars.

Jennifer Lawrence [R] played an Oscar-worthy performance in 'American Hustle'

When it is time to announce the winner of the Best Supporting Actress award, all eyes are going to be on two actresses, Jennifer Lawrence and the fairly unknown Lupita Nyong'o.

Although Lawrence is only 23 years-old she is no stranger to the movie award scene, and won her first Oscar at last year's ceremony for her performance in 'Silver Lining's Playbook.' She received the nomination this year for her flawless role, as a very flawed character, in David O.Russell's thriller 'American Hustle.'

The film itself is a 1970s retelling of the Abscam government corruption scandal, it follows con artist, Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), and his lover, Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), as they are forced to work with FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper), who pushes them into the dangerous and attractive world of the Mafia and money to go with it.

Lawrence plays Irving's emotionally unstable wife, who jeopardises the whole operation which potentially causes the lives of others to come crashing down.

Earlier this year, the 'Hunger Games' actress already won her second Golden Globe, this time for 'Best Supporting Actress', and only a couple of weeks ago, she also picked up the same prize at the BAFTAS's, which usually give good indication of how the Oscars will play out.
