LATEST: Former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos is prepared to drop her injunction banning the screening of film IMELDA - on condition the word "documentary" is not used in the title.
Film-maker RAMONA DIAZ's acclaimed movie was the toast of this year's (JAN04) Sundance Film Festival in Utah and has been prevented from being released in Diaz's native Philippines by the shoe-loving Marcos.
Last month (JUN04) Marcos filed a lawsuit against Diaz in the Makati regional court, asking for a temporary restraining order to stop the film being shown and claiming the documentary is full of "malice, inaccuracies and innuendoes".
Yesterday (12JUL04) the widow of former dictator FERDINAND MARCOS released a statement: "Having been in the public eye for years, in the spirit of freedom and everyone's rights to his perception, I will withdraw my case, provided the word documentary will be removed from the title."13/07/2004 13:43
