The rapper reportedly owes the IRS nearly $400,000.
Iggy Azalea has responded to reports that she’s been hit with a hefty tax linen of nearly $400,000 by the IRS. The bill is reportedly for unpaid taxes from 2014, the year the rapper made it big with her hit ‘Fancy’ and debut album The New Classic.
Iggy Azalea has slammed reports of IRS problems.
Writing on twitter, Azalea called the reports a ‘non story’ and explained that she had chosen to pay her taxes monthly. ‘Peep the way when one thing happens media scrambles to keep adding on to the storyline, like a soap opera. #IggyNovela,’ Azalea tweeted.
‘They exaggerate everything. the IRS gave the option to pay them monthly or lump sum. i picked monthly, who wouldn’t? But its funny to me because made the deal like 2 months ago.’ Azalea then went on to suggest that the story had been created because there’s nothing more to write about her relationship with Nick Young.
‘They are trying to make it into something now because they were hoping some more nick mess would happen and now that it hasn’t and its getting boring they need 2 create something else,’ she added.
‘Its super corny, but i know the way it works this time around and its expected.’ Last week Azalea and Young’s relationship hit the headlines after a video emerged of the basketball player speaking about an alleged encounter with a 19-year-old woman last summer.
But at the iHeartRadio Music Awards over the weekend Azalea was pictured still wearing her engagement ring. Speaking to E! News at the awards, Azalea explained how she gets through "turbulent" times.
"Everybody knows, it's no secret, I had a bit of a turbulent 2015," she explained. "I wanted to not breeze over that. I wanted to acknowledge how I felt about it, and I just wanted to say, 'You know what? I think it's fine if everybody doesn't support me because I am a believer in myself.’”
"My motto is just like the song says: 'I got me.' Just have your own back. I think we worry a lot about people liking our pages or how many followers we have, and you just gotta worry about your own thing."
