Guillermo Del Toro's sci-fi action film 'Pacific Rim' cost a massive $180 million to make, but opinions are split over the finished project.
Critics are divided over 'Pacific Rim'.
The futuristic sci-fi flick - which hits UK theatres on July 12 - has cost $180 million to make and is described by critics as big gamble for Warner Brothers.
Kanye West was the first celebrity to declare he was a fan, taking to Twitter to praise the film.
He wrote: ''I saw a pre-screening of Pacific Rim yesterday and it's easily one of my favorite movies of all time, this is not another robot movie.(sic)''
While the rapper was impressed with the big-budget movie, film critics were not so impressed.
The Wrap.com said the film ''offers a few laughs and a few thrills, but it feels like a very large platter serving a disappointingly meager meal.''
Fans were clearly pleased with the film, rating it four out of five stars on popular review site Rotten Tomatoes.
The plot revolves around an alien invasion of Earth forcing humans to build giant robots called Jaegers to combat monsters called Kaiju.
