Horowitz was originally asked whether he thought Idris Elba would be suitable for the role of the next 007.
Idris Elba has posted a great response to writer Anthony Horowitz’s apology for earlier calling the actor too “street” to play James Bond, proving he definitely is “suave” enough to play the British spy.
The 42 year old ‘Luther’ star posted a screengrab of Horowitz’s apology on his own Instagram, writing underneath: “Always Keep Smiling!! It takes no energy and never hurts! Learned that from the Street!!”

Horowitz apologised for using the word during an interview with the Daily Mail at the weekend.
Current James Bond author Anthony Horowitz has released a statement retracting his comments over Idris Elba’s suitability to replace Daniel Craig as 007, after he was accused of racism following an interview in which he claimed the ‘Luther’ actor was too “street” for the role.
In an interview with the Daily Mail published over the weekend, Horowitz said he didn’t think Elba was quite right for the part when asked who should replace Craig, whose new film Spectre may be his last. “Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too 'street' for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”

When asked whether he could envisage 007 portrayed as a gay man, Brosnan said "Sure. Why not?"
There’s been much talk about Idris Elba being cast as the next James Bond, potentially becoming the first black man to portray 007 on the big screen. However, Pierce Brosnan has said that he could also see the womanising secret agent being portrayed as gay man in future movies.
“Sure. Why not?” he said to Details magazine about whether such a script might be possible, before adding, “Actually, I don't know how it would work. I don't think Barbara [Broccoli, Bond producer] would allow a gay Bond to happen in her lifetime. But it would certainly make for interesting viewing.”

The ‘Luther’ actor is one of the hot favourites to take over from Daniel Craig.
Idris Elba has long been rumoured to be the next in line to play James Bond once Daniel Craig steps down from the franchise later this year. But while ‘The Wire’ actor has previously stated he would take on the role, Elba has now dismissed any rumours as pure speculation.
Idris Elba has spoken about the rumours that he’ll be the next Bond.
“It’s just a rumour. I have no idea,” Elba told the Radio Times when asked about being joint favourite at the bookies with Damian Lewis to replace Daniel Craig. The rumours about Elba taking over the 007 role started when when a leaked Sony email stated that the actor “should be the next Bond”.
Odds have been slashed on the ‘Homeland’ star becoming the first red-headed 007.
‘Homeland’ star Damian Lewis has emerged as one of the frontrunners to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, after a string of bets caused bookies to slash their odds on the actor. Current Bond Daniel Craig is widely believed to be stepping down as 007 later this year following the release of his fourth film in the franchise, Spectre.
Can you picture Damian Lewis as 007?
Bookie William Hill is now offering 6/4 odds on Lewis becoming the next Bond, having previously put him at 25/1. The move comes after a flurry of £200 bets were recently placed on the ‘Homeland’ actor.

The 'Luther' actor, speaking at a premiere in London, believes that the rumour now holds no credibility because people have talked it to death.
Most of us would be pretty happy if we were continually linked to playing James Bond, but Idris Elba has expressed frustration at the subject continually being brought up. He believes that, even if the chance at landing the coveted role existed, it has now been killed off by people talking about it so much.
Speaking at a question and answer session at the British Film Institute in London on Tuesday, the star of 'The Wire' and 'Luther' told the audience: “honestly, it’s a rumor that’s really starting to eat itself. If there was ever any chance of me getting Bond, it’s gone.”

The veteran actor is reported to have said that Elba isn't “English English” enough.
Roger Moore has attempted to clarify the comments he made about the possibility of Idris Elba becoming the next James Bond, after he was accused of racism. In the interview conducted with Paris Match magazine, Moore reportedly said that Elba could not play Bond because he was not "English-English" enough.
Sir Roger made the comments to Paris Match magazine
“A few years ago, I said that [Cuba Gooding Jnr would make an excellent Bond, but it was a joke!” Moore stated in the interview. "Although James may have been played by a Scot, a Welshman and an Irishman, I think he should be 'English-English'. Nevertheless, it's an interesting idea, but unrealistic.”

While Sean Penn lends this thriller some political subtext, the fact remains that it's actually just another vacuous revenge fantasy from Taken director Pierre Morel. Clearly for Morel, the violence is the point, and any depth of meaning is irrelevant, which leaves the film superficially entertaining but a waste of the considerable talent on-screen.
Penn plays Jim, a charity worker in the wartorn 2006 Democratic Republic of Congo. His hot doctor girlfriend Annie (Jasmine Trinca) has no idea that Jim is secretly a black-ops sniper working with fellow mercenary commandos Cox, Felix and DuPont (Rylance, Bardem and Elba). Then their latest mission requires Jim to disappear. Eight years later in an all-new life, Jim discovers that someone is trying to kill him, so he travels to London to find Cox. When Jim's pursuers turn up, Cox sends him to talk to Felix, who now lives in Barcelona with Annie as his wife. With the mysterious killers still on his trail, Jim heads to Gibraltar to tie up the loose ends with DuPont, and finally discovers the truth about what's going on and who's behind it.
Yes, everything is leading to a brutal confrontation inventively set in a bull-fighting ring. But not much else here is either original or convincing. The whole African politics premise is little more than a plot device, while hopping from Congo to Britain to Spain does little more than change the background scenery. Otherwise, the script is so simplistic that it barely holds water, and each ambush, fight and chase sequence feels like something we've seen before. Especially since everything is both over-choreographed and gratuitously grisly. Still, Morel is great at creating a sense of tension that builds ominously from start to finish, adding some gritty urgency through corrupt politicians and self-serving businessmen. Unfortunately, the film continually sidelines these intriguing ideas for more mindlessly violent mayhem.

Idris Elba is likely to be named as the new James Bond after Daniel Craig.
After weeks of speculation that Idris Elba is the main target to take over from Daniel Craig as James Bond, the man himself has finally broken his silence. Elba, a talented actor who would undoubtedly serve as an excellent 007, is, according to leaked Sony emails, the man who is most likely to take over from Craig in two movies' time.

During his news programme this week, controversial commentator Rush Limbaugh offered his two cents on the matter. Ok lets cut to the chase: Limbaugh says Elba is black, so therefore cannot play Bond.

Rowland made the announcement via Instagram this past Tuesday.
Kelly Rowland is pregnant! Unlike other celebrity pregnancies, the news came straight from the source this time, with the singer posting a photo on her Instagram of a baby-sized pair of Air Jordans. Aw, isn’t that the cutest product placement you’ve ever heard of?
Congrats on the baby. And the general awesomeness.
It’s been a whirlwind year for Rowland and her longtime beau, Tim Witherspoon, who just tied the knot a month ago. The couple celebrated their love with an intimate ceremony in Costa Rica on May 9.
Kelly also recently released a new single, The Game, as part of Pepsi’s World Cup visual album. The album features Rowland, alongside the likes of Janelle Monae, Rita Ora and Idris Elba, of all people, and includes audio and visual contributions, centered around the theme of, y’know, the Game. Also collaboration and togetherness, etc.

12 Years a Slave sucked up all the guilt so there was nothing left for 'Mandela', apparently
‘12 Years a Slave’ was, rightfully, the recipient of huge praise and numerous awards. The remarkable story of Solomon Northrup - portrayed by Chiwitel Ejiofor - was masterfully directed by Steve McQueen. But that success, suggests screenwriter William Nicholson, was to the detriment of his film, ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom'.
Nicholson said ’12 Years’ "sucked up all the guilt about black people that was available” adding that he thought ‘Mandela’ “worked superbly," but Americans “were so exhausted feeling guilty about slavery that I don't think there was much left over to be nice about our film. So our film didn't do as well as we'd hoped, which was a bit heartbreaking."
The 41 year-old Brit named his newborn son Winston after his late father, who passed away after losing a battle with lung cancer last September (2013).
Idris Elba is a father to a healthy baby son.
The 41 year-old actor welcomed his second child into the world with his make-up artist girlfriend Naiyana Garth on Friday (April 18th).
Elba announced the good news via Twitter by posting an adorable black and white photo of his new-born baby holding his finger.
Idris Elba is rumored to be playing Tupac in the upcoming biopic, but would one of these other actors be a better choice?
18 years after the murder of Tupac Shakur the rapper will be bought back to life, this time not by a hologram projector but by an actor. The Tupac biopic is finally in the works, with rumours that Idris Elba may be lined up to play the late rapper. The biopic is set to be directed by an old friend of Shakur’s, John Singleton, who has over twenty years in the business and films such as Boyz n the Hood, Baby Boy and 2 Fast 2 Furious under his belt. Singleton directed Tupac, who starred as a young postal clerk, in his 1993 film Poetic Justice, so he was well-acquainted with the rapper. Who better to direct than someone who was accustomed to the subject of the biopic?
Tupac was just 25 when he was shot and killed in Las Vegas
Singleton may be the ideal director for the project, but is Idris Elba, at 41 years old, the best choice to play the rapper, who died at 25? Idris is a supremely talented actor, so we’re sure that he’ll do a stellar job, but if casting directors need a little more choice, why not try one of this lot?

After Idris Elba's recent impromptu rap performance received less than a glowing from an onlooker, is he the right choice to play Tupac Shakur in the upcoming biopic?
Idris Elba is plenty of things, but unfortunately a natural born rapper is not one of them. The Thor: The Dark World actor has been critically acclaimed for his recent roles, including winning the Golden Globe for his performance as tough man police detective Luther in the BBC drama series as well as a Golden Globe nomination for his performance as Nelson Madela in 2013’s Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
Idris Elba may be set to play rapper Tupac in the upcoming biopic movie
The versatile actor has also achieved international success starring in blockbuster movies including Thor, Pacific Rim and Prometheus as well as, believe it or not, having a rather successful sideline career DJing. Under the moniker DJ Big Driis, or alternatively Big Driis the Londoner, Elba, has DJed all over the world in some of the biggest nightclubs. What we’re trying to say here is that no one doubts that the guy’s got many talents.

Disney's new Jungle Book is the talk of the town, but what can we expect from the upcoming movie?
Another childhood classic we all know and love is headed for a complete reboot, but what do we need to know about Disney’s new Jungle Book movie?
Who's writing it?
The new script will be written by Justin Marks, who made his debut with Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, in 2009. Street Fighter may not have blown away fans or critics, but don’t despair, Marks has since proven himself worthy to Disney with his script draft of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. The latter may have been dropped until further notice, but it’s clear that Disney has faith in Marks to do justice to the script of their new Jungle Book movie.

Idris Elba loses Golden Globe prize for Best Actor to Matthew McConaughey.
No Globe for Idris this year
'The Wire' star impressed critics with his performance as late humanitarian Nelson Mandela, with our own critic Rich Cline describing him as having 'enormous presence. with the right physicality and charisma', but it seems that it just hasn't been enough at this year's Globes. The movie was nominated for a remarkable four awards and did manage to land Best Original Song - Motion Picture; an award which went to U2 for 'Ordinary Love'.
