Rapper and actor Ice Cube defends his transformation from violent movies to family-friendly comedies, insisting he only ever commits to "good projects".

The 34-year-old has recently hit the big time in the FRIDAY and BARBERSHOP franchises, but started out in gritty urban gang films, such as Boyz n the Hood and Menace II Society.

But Cube is happy with the choices he's made, because he always selects scripts that feel right.

He says, "I don't feel any pressure to do less hardcore movies. I want to be in all types of movies that are good projects. I want to be in all types of movies that are entertaining.

"I've turned down a lot of things because I just didn't feel it in my gut. I think that's the key to success. You're the one who has to be satisfied first before you can please anyone else."
