Ice Age: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS has made history at the top of the international box office charts after scoring the biggest ever global opening for an animated film.
The third installment of the Ice Age franchise was the number one pick all over the world last week (ends05Jul09), setting a record for the biggest debut gross of all time for an animated title following its Wednesday (01Jul09) release.
The film managed to rake in a massive $148 million (£99 million) outside of the U.S., bringing its worldwide box office haul to $215 million (£143 million).
Last week's (ends28Jun09) chart-topper Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was pushed to second place, grossing $55 million (£37 million).
But there was good news for fans of the action sequel - its total worldwide earnings of $591 million (£394 million) have made it the biggest film of the year, topping Tom Hanks' blockbuster Angels & Demons.
