Humphrey Bogart has been immortalised in stone in New York City after the stretch of street outside his childhood home was renamed in his honour at the weekend (24-25JUN06). A section of pavement outside 245 West 103rd Street, where the Casablanca icon lived until his mid-twenties, is now called Humphrey Bogart Place, and a plaque was erected to mark the event. Lauren Bacall, who was married to Bogart from 1945 until his death in 1957, says, "Bogie would never have believed it. I'm happy he is honoured. Of course, it's only brass on a wall." Bogart lived in house from his birth in 1899 until 1923.
