Brooke Hogan has come to the defence of her father Hulk Hogan after he was found to have made racist remarks during a taped conversation in 2007. The singer, who starred with her father in reality series ‘Hogan Knows Best’ penned a poem titled ‘If You Knew My Father’ describing Hulk as having a ‘tender heart’ and as someone who would never want to hurt his fans.

Brooke posted the poem on her Facebook account just hours after her dad became the center of racism scandal which saw him loose his WWE contract and be dropped as a judge on reality series ‘Tough Enough’. ‘If you knew the dad I knew, you'd know his tender heart,’ Brooke wrote.

‘He'd never want to hurt his fans, or family from the start. If you knew my father, you would know how hard he fought and the way it brought a smile to people light, medium and dark.’

The poem goes on to ask the public to forgive Hogan, with Brooke writing, ‘Because I know my father, I can promise this. Just like you and I, things we don't mean can sometimes slip.’

On Friday Radar Online and The National Enquirer revealed that the wrestler had been taped making racist remarks eight years ago in reference to his daughter’s then boyfriend. Before the news broke all mention of the 61 year old was removed from the WWE’s website and he was announced as no longer under contract with the company.

Hogan has since issued an apology which read, ‘Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it.’

‘This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise,' he continued. 'I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.’
