British actor Hugh Laurie's new medical drama HOUSE has proved so popular in America, bosses at TV network Fox are supplying to demand by ordering extra episodes.

Eighteen episodes of the show were originally recorded and now Fox has ordered an additional four, bringing the total number of episodes ordered to 22, a full season's worth.

Bosses at Fox say they hope to have fresh episodes of the show to air in April (05), reports trade publication the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Laurie plays a pill-popping doctor who hates his patients in the show, which debuted in November (04) and hit its highest ratings yet on Tuesday (08FEB05) with the benefit of following hit TV contest American Idol.
