Wolverine is joined by Magneto and Professor Xavier at an airport to discuss the possible follow-up to X Men: The Last Stand
The Wolverine currently stands at the top of the US Box Office, mirroring this success in around 100 other countries across the globe, but despite this successful audience turn-around, not everyone stuck around to see the sneak peak at the next X Men film. The scene, which comes after the end credits, may have blindsided a number of cinema-goers, who missed out on the pretty epic scene.
Jackman is back as Wolverine
The scene is set two years after Logan's run in with Viper and his ninja army in Japan and sees Wolverine stood in line for an airport metal detector. He looks up to a wall-mounted television, playing an advertisement for Trask Industries (the company responsible for launching the mutant-hunting Sentinels in next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past), before being ushered through the metal detector, which obviously goes off and Logan has to be patted down (how many people wanted that job?!) by a security guard. During his pat down, he notices a familiar scene; coins and other loose metal objects shaking furiously around him, meaning only one thing.
Instinctively unleashing his claws, he turns to find Magneto (Ian McKellen) stood behind him, apparently recovered completely from the mutant 'cure' he was administered in the third X Men film. Using his metal-manipulating talents to pin Logan in his spot, Magneto ominously utters "There are dark forces moving, new forces, building a weapon that could bring about the end of our talent. Logan, I want your help."
Through clenched teeth he asks, "why would I trust you?" bringing us our second big surprise; the return of the seemingly deceased Professor X (Patrick Stewart). Despite being vaporised by Jean Grey - the love of Wolverine's life - in the last movie, Prof X is looking pretty damn good, but he isn't here to talk skin care regimes. We're not exactly what he's there to talk about, with the scene ending on Xavier's reveal, but we expect to find out what the pair are so worried about in the not-so-distant future. The Easter Egg ends with Logan asking "How is this possible?" to which Xavier replies "As I told you a long time ago, you're not the only one with gifts."
So just in case you we're looking forward to X-Men: Days of Future Past, now is the time to start getting excited because if this little teaser is anything to go by, it's going to be epic!
