Les Miserables actor Hugh Jackman had a slight scare at the end of his nose, and it didn’t come from lying. No, after catching a small mark on the apex of his schnoz early, the Australian managed to avoid serious skin cancer with some simple treatment.

Hugh JackmanHugh Jackman was glad to be over and done with his brief cancer scare

The Wolverine star posted an image of his face with a bandage on his nose on his Instagram account. Accompanying the snap was the caption: "Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked.”

Jackman revealed that it was his wife, Deb, who convinced him to go and get himself checked out; a piece of advice he won’t regret acting upon. Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right!” he noted. "Please don't be foolish like me," he wrote. "Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!"

Now that his facial awareness is back to optimum levels – and hopefully some of his fan’s, too – Jackman can concentrate on his up-and-coming projects. X-Men: Days of Future Past is in postproduction, and sees him adopt the role of Wolverine yet again.

Charged with uniting past and present X-Men, Wolverine must mend bridges and reconcile any bad blood to ensure a war doesn’t begin. The highly anticipated Marvel movie is due for release on May 23 2014.

Also in line for Jackman is yet another stand-alone performance as Wolverine, following up on his exploits in Japan in The Wolverine. “I was on the phone with Jim Mangold last night,” he said, on a possible sequel.

“There are some really cool ideas that I’m dying to tell you, but that would be giving away a secret that is not even [fully] formed yet. I do want to do it with Jim and with [producer] Lauren Shuler-Donner,” continued Jackman, “because we had such a great experience. I’m really proud of The Wolverine." (Total Film)
