Hugh Jackman is in talks to show off his singing skills on the big screen in the upcoming movie adaptation of Les Miserables.
The King's Speech director Tom Hooper is working on a new film version of the classic stage show, which is based on the 1862 book of the same name by Victor Hugo, and X-Men star Jackman is in talks to tackle a main role, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The Australian actor, who has a background in musical theatre, recently admitted he has "always wanted to do a movie musical" and deeply regrets turning down a part in the Oscar-winning 2002 film version of Chicago.
Les Miserables has previously been adapted for a number of films including a 1998 version starring Liam Neeson, Geoffrey Rush and Uma Thurman. The new movie is due to begin filming in Europe later this year (11).
