Hugh Jackman has hinted he may be hanging up his Wolverine claws after fifteen years in the role.
Hugh Jackman's Instagram post on Saturday (28th March) has set the rumour mill working overtime with fans of X-Men already lamenting the loss of Jackman's Wolverine. Jackman hinted he may be finally leaving the role, captioning a picture "one last time". 46-year-old Jackman has played the Marvel superhero since the first X-Men film in 2000.
Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine for 15 years.

"WOLVERINE ...ONE LAST TIME. HJ," Jackman captioned a picture showing his fist complete with prosthetic Wolverine claws in place.
Jackman has played the role seven times since first appearing in X-Men. He has appeared in every X-Men film to date, including a brief appearance in X-Men: First Class. His own character Wolverine has been the subject of two previous films: X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine. There is an upcoming third Wolverine project in the works which will be released in 2017.
It is uncertain if Jackman will appear in the upcoming X-Men film, X-Men: Apocalypse. CinemaBlend.com suggests he will feature in a cameo role alongside Channing Tatum, who will make his debut as Gambit, and Halle Berry as Storm. Filming for Apocalypse is due to start next month but it is unclear if Jackman's photograph is from the production of Apocalypse or for the third Wolverine instalment.
Jackman's decision is certainly a turnaround from last year when he told the NY Daily News he was "enjoying it [the role] more than ever." However, despite Jackman's teasing picture, he has yet to officially confirm if he will be permanently leaving the role.
