New York shock jock Howard Stern was forced to cancel his radio chat with Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday (21AUG03) over fears the interview would breach Federal Communications Commission rules.

Stern was hoping to chat to Arnie about his election hopes as he prepares to run for Governor of California, but radio bosses pulled the plug on the chat because, under FCC laws, it would mean they would have to give every other candidate equal air time.

With over 130 official candidates chasing the post in the California recall election, it was felt it would be impossible to give them all air time.

A furious Stern says, "He'll get an exemption to appear on other shows. I'm the only one that doesn't. The FCC gives everyone exemptions."
