Hillary Clinton's bodyguards were embroiled in a heated exchange with a London traffic warden after he issued the U.S. politician with a parking ticket earlier this week (begs14Oct13).

The former First Lady was in the British capital collecting a prize for her contribution to international diplomacy at Mayfair's Chatham House when an official saw her car parked on a street with no ticket and issued a fine.

Clinton's security guards attempted to persuade the warden to excuse the charge of $120 (£80), but he refused.

A spokesman for Westminster City Councillor tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "We have to be fair to everyone, regardless of their status on the world stage."
