MACkenroth passed away on Sunday (03Jan16) at his home in Henderson, Nevada at the age of 46.

The musician got his big break when frontman Henry Rollins noticed his talents in 1989 when MACkenroth was playing in a pop trio called Mother Superior.

Rollins produced two of the band's albums before asking MACkenroth to join his Rollins Band.

During his six-year tenure with the group, MACkenroth featured on seven albums and performed on four world tours.

He later went on to release two solo albums, and also spent eight years in the backing band for the Blue Man Group in the Las Vegas production.

According to Billboard.com, a benefit concert in MACkenroth's honour is being planned for later this year (16), and his memorial service will be held in Las Vegas later this month (Jan16).
