Henry Cavill Promises "Gallows Humour" In 'Justice League'

Henry Cavill

When it comes to the DC Extended Universe, it's fair to say the reaction to the majority of its movies so far has been completely split. 'Wonder Woman' broke the mould, bringing in amazing reviews from both critics and the wider general viewing public, but for the flicks that came before it such as 'Suicide Squad' and 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', there was a lot of venom and raised eyebrows.

Flash, Superman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Batman and Aquaman make up the 'Justice League'Flash, Superman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Batman and Aquaman make up the 'Justice League'

This month, the latest addition to the DCEU comes in the form of 'Justice League', with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck's Batman teaming up with Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and the returning Superman (Henry Cavill). Forced to defend Earth once more, they'll go up against their most formidable threat in Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons who are all in search of a trio of Mother Boxes scattered across the planet. With them, Steppenwolf would claim ultimate power, bringing death and destruction to millions.

Justice League Trailer

The planet is in turmoil. Superman is apparently dead and crime rates have surged around the world as a result. But there's more than just petty theft and random assaults out there; mankind are under threat from an alien general named Steppenwolf who, with his terrible army of Parademons, are causing devastation as they search far and wide for three mysterious Mother Boxes hidden on Earth. The people need help, and so Bruce Wayne brings back Gotham's hero - Batman - and enlists the assistance of Wonder Woman to form a new legion of heroes. They, along with Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash, must protect the world from total destruction at the hands of Steppenwolf and, ultimately, his boss Darkseid. They're all very different heroes, with very different ideas about fighting villains, but there's one thing they all have in common - a desire for justice.

Henry Cavill Jokes About Moustache 'Fiasco'

Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill responded to fans’ grumbling about his facial hair in a facetious and amusing manner, after recent reports commented upon extensive Justice League re-shoots and his moustache.

Variety reported on Monday (July 24th) that Warner Bros. and DC were embarking on a series of re-shoots for Justice League, in the wake of the success of Wonder Woman, ahead of its theatrical release later this year.

However, this presents a problem in character continuity, as Cavill needed to grow a moustache for his role in Paramount’s Mission: Impossible 6, which was supposed to finish shooting before he needed to return to Warner Bros. to play Superman in Justice League. However, the over-running of one and the re-shooting of the other have required him to flit between projects, and Paramount won’t allow him to shave while M:I6 is in production.

Wonder Woman may still be showing on the silver screen, but it seems as though the sequel to the hit film is already in the works with multiple reports that Diana Prince will again find herself in a war zone, this time in the 1980s Cold War. The rumours started courtesy of inside sources at ScreenRant, with suspicions being confirmed by The Wrap.

In amongst the rumours is also the news that Chris Pine could return as Steve Trevor in the second instalment of the franchise. No other news has been made available, but we already know that Patty Jenkins is working on the DC film with boss Geoff Johns.

Ben Affleck And Henry Cavill Show No Rivalry At 'Batman V Superman' Premiere

Ben Affleck Henry Cavill

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' finally made its New York premiere yesterday (March 20th 2016) as fans gear up for the excitement of its theatrical debut on Friday. The cast and crew of the hugely anticipated DC crossover movie were all over the red carpet, along with a few special guests and the cast of pre-Batman TV series 'Gotham'.

Gal Godot, Amy Adams and Holly Hunter looked stunning in their premiere gowns as they joined male co-stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg at the event. Oscar winner Hunter plays Senator Finch in the new film, which sees a world turning against the all-powerful Superman, in favour of a mortal hero with less chance of inflicting collateral damage or, indeed, destroying the world on an impulse.

Henry Cavill Gets Put In His Place By Very Young Batman Fans

Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill was left heartbroken when he met a bunch of very young superhero fans, many of whom were brutally honest in their declaration that they favoured Batman over Superman. Kids just don't mess around; they know what they want and they're not prepared to sugar-coat the situation.

Henry CavillSorry, Henry, kids know best!

When Cavill visited the Durrell Wildlife Conservation as part of a movement with the charity Omaze, he decided to get some answers about who was really the better Superhero. He probably wasn't expecting such bluntness though.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Gives Henry Cavill A Break From Superman

Henry Cavill Guy Ritchie

Taking a break from his role as Superman, Henry Cavill took a trip to the swinging 60s to star in Guy Ritchie's spy action-comedy The Man From U.N.C.L.E. It's a much more light-hearted role than 2013's Man of Steel, and offers a glimpse into how Cavill might have played James Bond (he was a finalist to play 007 before Daniel Craig landed the role).

Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer in 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.'Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer are major frenemies in 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' re-boot

In fact, some critics have said that U.N.C.L.E. is nothing but summer fluff. "As an actor, I don't go out looking for a message," he says. "But I believe anyone can take what they want from it. It's set in a time of potential nuclear apocalypse and asking how that would feel. The 1960s were, apparently, awesome. So if you're sitting around now being a misery-guts because you're having a bad day, well, what if it were the 1960s and the world could actually end?"

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Review

Very Good

Adopting a deliciously groovy vibe, Guy Ritchie turns the iconic 1960s TV spy series into a flashy action-comedy. There's absolutely nothing to this frothy romp, but it's packed with hilarious characters and lively action scenes that continually surprise the audience with inventive twists on the genre. And it just might turn the suave, fast-talking Henry Cavill and the brooding, engaging Armie Hammer into A-list stars in the process.

It opens in 1963 East Berlin, where ex-con CIA operative Napoleon Solo (Cavill) is trying to help sexy mechanic Gaby (Alicia Vikander) escape to the West, chased by his nemesis, KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Hammer). Gaby's father is a nuclear scientist on the verge of selling his secrets to a rogue Italian billionaire couple (Elizabeth Debicki and Luca Calvani) so, even though the Cold War is raging, the CIA and KGB decide to cooperate on the mission. This means that rivals Solo and Illya must work together as they travel to Rome with Gaby, making contact with British agent Waverly (Hugh Grant) and Gaby's creepy uncle (Sylvester Goth). And of course, there are unexpected wrinkles along the way.

As always, Ritchie cleverly subverts each set-piece, letting chase scenes unfold in carefully staged but enjoyably inventive ways, often putting the real action in the background while the characters act as if they're above all this nastiness. As popcorn entertainment, this is first-rate, with a cast that's more than up to the challenge. Cavill is particularly smooth, a Bond-style spy who seems unable to resist seducing every pretty woman he meets. Hammer's role is pricklier, since Illya never quite relaxes, although his petulance makes him just as likeable. Their interplay is snappy and often very funny but, unlike Ritchie's similarly toned Sherlock Holmes movies, this strains to avoid being a bromance. Solo and Illya continue to spy on each other right to the end, maintaining their Cold War distance even as they team up to save the world.

Henry Cavill Recalls Awkward Sex Scene Which Left Him Accidentally Aroused

Henry Cavill

British movie star Henry Cavill has revealed his embarrassment at a time he accidentally got an “unacceptable” erection during filming of a sex scene for BBC period drama ‘The Tudors’.

The Hollywood heavy hitter was a part of the historical series based on the reign of Henry VIII, which ran for four seasons between 2007 and 2010. However, one particular moment left him mortified after a scene he shot with a girl with “spectacular breasts” made him rather aroused.

Jesse Eisenberg Likens Comic-Con To "Genocide"

Jesse Eisenberg Ben Affleck Henry Cavill Robert Pattinson Jeremy Irons Holly Hunter

Jesse Eisenberg apparently didn’t enjoy being at Comic-Con, likening his experience at the massive convention to “some kind of genocide”. We know the crowds can be a little forceful, but seriously?

Giving a reaction to this year’s annual sci-fi and comic fest to the Associated Press on Monday (July 13th), the actor made the somewhat questionable remarks. “It is like being screamed at by thousands of people,” he reflected, “I don’t know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide. I can’t think of anything that’s equivalent.”
