British actress Helena Bonham Carter has been honoured for her efforts in CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER WOMEN at Japan's Tokyo International Film Festival.

Director KICHITARO NEGISHI's movie WHAT THE SNOW BRINGS, which portrays the lives of two brothers in Japan's northern island of Hokkaido, won the $100,000 (GBP55,000) Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix award on Sunday (30OCT05) for best film.

Negishi and lead actor Koichi Sato also scooped top prizes.

Taiwanese film-maker HOU HSIAO HSIEN was awarded a special prize, while JIN YAQIN was named best actress along with Bonham Carter.

Carter's movie also received a special jury award.
