From Stages To Film Sets: Singers Who Have Traded Microphones For Acting Careers

Andre 3000 Harley Sylvester Rita Ora Iggy Azalea Adam Levine Rihanna Rizzle Kicks Joss Stone Justin Bieber

It seems if you can sing, you should be able to act with a whole host of super singers putting down their microphones and picking up a script instead. Justin Timberlake has made one of the most impressive transferences from stage to screen with exciting supporting roles in hits including The Social Network and the Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis and taking the lead role opposite Mila Kunis in Friends With Benefits.

Beyoncé successfully combined both singing and acting in the musical drama, Dreamgirls, and also tried her hand at pure acting in everyone's favourite detective film, The Pink Panther and in American thriller, Obsessed

Harley Sylvester Is Haunting, Menacing In 'The Guvnors' [Trailer]

Harley Sylvester Doug Allen

'The Guvnors' sees two generations of London gangs lock horns for supremacy. The GuvnorsHarley Sylvester leads a young gang in London

So it’s not the most original of premises; The Guvnors is a hybrid of British film’s most distinctive genres: football hooligan and gangster flick, made so lovingly quintessential to the nation by Guy Richie. But the British penchant for hardy criminals and violent support of the national game hasn’t always produced the finest quality cinema.

The Guvnors Trailer

Back in the 90s, a brutal South East London firm known as The Guvnors pretty much ruled their side of town. But now there's a new generation of ruthless street gangsters led by Adam (Harley Sylvester); a formidable and scarred leader whose not afraid to inflict violence on anybody. While Guvnors leader Mitch (Doug Allen) has, with a huge effort, left his past behind him in order to have a career and bring up his child, things get complicated when Adam wants to make sure that the Guvnors are longer a threat to his leadership. After a bitter altercation whereby Guvnor veteran Mickey Snr. (David Essex), gets the better of Adam, the youngsters decide to go after him and Mitch. However, just killing them in their homes will no doubt bring dishonour upon their firm, and so the two gangs face a savage face-off on the streets of London.
