Halle Berry has obtained a temporary restraining order against an intruder who left her "panicking" and "extremely frightened" after a face-to-face confrontation at her Los Angeles home on Monday (11Jul11).
Richard Franco has been told to stay away from the former Bond girl after he showed up at her Hollywood Hills estate three times in as many days.
In a declaration submitted to Los Angeles County Superior Court and obtained by Tmz.com, Berry describes how she feared for her life after finding Franco lurking just inches away from her.
She states, "All of a sudden I sensed someone behind me and turned to see the intruder standing less than a foot behind me, staring through my glass kitchen door.
"Panicking and in fear of my life, I turned my body and quickly hit the deadbolt lock on the glass door. I grabbed my phone and ran as fast as I could upstairs, slamming each door behind me as I ran."
She adds, "He has terrorized me and my family in three consecutive incidents over the last three days. This person has invaded and trampled upon the most fundamental sense of security I have and I am extremely frightened of him and what he might do to me and those I love."
The incidents began on Saturday (09Jul11), when Berry first spotted the intruder in her gated backyard.
Franco was arrested on Monday (11Jul11) and remains in custody. A hearing to determine whether the restraining order will be made permanent is set for 1 August (11).
Police from Los Angeles' threat management team have warned Berry's staff that Franco has a history of "violence, theft and drugs offences," according to the Los Angeles Times.
