Entourage Review

Very Good

Both shameless and shamelessly entertaining, this relentlessly boyish movie carries on exactly as the TV show left off after its eight-season run. In fact, it actually feels like a ninth season was condensed into 104 minutes, as it carries on with the same misogynistic approach, leering at women while laughing at the inappropriate behaviour of men. But these guys still have their charm, and when they get together the screen lights up with snappy banter and a hilariously knowing depiction of how crazy life is within the movie industry.

It's been four years since we last saw them, and Vince (Adrien Grenier) is just out of a disastrous marriage, yearning to direct his next movie, a raving sci-fi take on Jeckyll and Hyde. As luck would have it, his loyal ex-agent Ari (Jeremy Piven) is now a studio boss, so he lets him make the movie with his best pal Eric (Kevin Connolly) as producer, his older brother Johnny (Kevin Dillon) in a key supporting role and his pal Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) as their driver. But the Texan moneybags (Billy Bob Thornton) is dubious about all of this, and sends his know-it-all son Travis (Haley Joel Osment) to keep an eye on post-production. And Travis has some ideas of his own, much to everyone's horror.

While the rather bland Grenier holds the centre as Vince, the rest of the characters are given subplots to run with. Ari is in marriage counselling because he can't tear himself from his work; Eric goes through a few more women while preparing for his ex-girlfriend to give birth to their child; Johnny hopes this small role might finally kickstart his career; Turtle pursues a relationship with MMA champion-turned actress Ronda Rousey; and Travis is jealous of how much time Vince is spending with model-turned-actress Emily Ratajkowski. None of these plots have anywhere to go, but they pass the time amiably.

The world of acting is no longer enough for superstar Vincent Chase, whose now looking at a career in directing. With his lifestyle having taken a significant overhaul following several years of hedonism (though it might not seem like it), Ari Gold is still acting as his agent despite his new job as CEO of Time Warner and is willing to give his client a shot at what he wants to do - even if no-one else seems to think he can pull off directing. He lands a $100 million budget but things get complicated when he goes over by $15 million. Vince isn't overly concerned with the film becoming a flop, but it could mean the end of Ari's career before its started if it doesn't come through.

Cameo appearances can make for some of the greatest moments in movies. Remember seeing Alice Cooper in 'Wayne's World'? Stan Lee in 'Mall Rats'? Mike Tyson in 'The Hangover'? Or, possibly the greatest cameo of all time, Bill Murray in 'Zombieland'? Well, for a show set in and around Hollywood, based on the exploits of rapper/actor/executive producer Mark Wahlberg, it was understandable why HBO's 'Entourage' has more than its fair share of A-list cameos.

'Entourage' is set to hit US theatres on 5th June, 2015.
'Entourage' is set to hit US theatres on 5th June, 2015.

Over the course of its seven-year runtime, 'Entourage' racked up a very impressive list of cameo performances, including Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Hugh Hefner, Peter Dinklage, James Cameron, Seth Green, Snoop Dogg, Peter Jackson - you get the idea. There were an awful lot of people getting involved in 'Entourage', so it stands to reason that when the trailer for the feature adaptation launched, people were eagerly looking to see who would be making an appearance outside of the main cast.

Everything You Need To Know About Kevin Smith's And Johnny Depp's Film Yoga Hosers

Johnny Depp Kevin Smith Michael Parks Haley Joel Osment Tony Hale Jason Mewes

After a run of poorly received films that have dented Johnny Depp’s reputation as a box-office magnet, the Hollywood superstar must be keen to move onto pastures anew. For his newest venture, Depp has teamed up with cult filmmaker Kevin Smith in a high-concept action movie based around the exploits of a pair of teen yoga fanatics and their fight against evil spirits. Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose and Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn will take the lead roles whilst Depp will co-star in the curiously entitled project, Yoga Hosers.

Johnny DeppIn recent years, Depp's box-office status has tailed off after some poor performances.

Set in rural Canada, Smith has written the film and will direct it when it begins production. The story will follow the two girls as they battle a mysterious and ancient evil that threatens a planned party by rising from the underground, penetrating through a spiritual netherworld to usurp the two girl’s weekend plans to attend the coolest party in town. It will mark the second venture by Smith in a trilogy of films, nicknamed the “True North Trilogy” set in the vast and spacious Canadian countryside. The first, Tusk, is currently scheduled to do the rounds in the Autumnal film festival circuit and features largely the same cast as Yoga Hosers. Harley Quinn and Lily Rose also appear in Tusk in roles that are synonymous with Smith’s directorial oeuvre: convenience store clerks. For Yoga Hosers, however, the girl will take on much more pro-active roles.

Tom Hanks' Audition Tape For Forrest Gump Is Adorable

Tom Hanks Robin Wright Haley Joel Osment

Can you believe it's twenty years since Robert Zemeckis's Forrest Gump was first released? The weepy drama that won the 1994 Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Director, Best Visual Effects, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing has gone into film history as not only a great movie, but one of Tom Hanks' finest performances.

It's hard to imagine any other actor in the role of the titular Forrest, yet Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and John Travolta all turned down the opportunity, and Hanks himself had to audition just like everybody else. Take a look below at his touching audition tape, also starring Robin Wright and an adorably little Haley Joel Osment, who even helps Hanks out with a line.

Wallace Bryton (Justin Long) has a job that most could only dream of. He spends his working days travelling around and discovering interesting people whom he then interviews for his radio podcasts. It's a voyage of education and cultural vibrancy - though it rarely occurs to this adventurous wanderer that it could be a little dangerous. He decides to travel to an isolated area of Manitoba in Canada to meet a man with many stories of his own adventures at sea, including being rescued from a sinking boat by a walrus. However, Wallace finds himself drugged at the man's house within hours and spends the next few terrifying days being tortured into behaving like a walrus while this mysterious Mr. Howe (Michael Parks) prepares to perform a gruesome and disfiguring operation involving a carefully prepared pair of ivory tusks. The Hunchback Of Notre Dame II Review

Bad
Our pal Quasimodo finds love of his own in this abortive and unbearably lazy sequel to Disney's moderate success, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Unlike mostly no-name productions like The Return of Jafar, the entire original cast is back in this sequel (with the exception of Mary Wickes, who died before the original Hunchback was ever released), and how Disney convinced them to take part is beyond me. (Iron-clad contract or the promise that, after all, this will barely take an hour of their time?)

Secondhand Lions Review

OK
Like a similar creature that patrols a certain Yellow Brick Road, Tim McCanlies' Secondhand Lions is in dire need of a shot of courage. It's scary to think of how much better this king of the jungle could've been had it possessed the sharp teeth of its animal namesake and took a serious bite out of the plump themes of family greed, lost love and misspent youth. What we're left with are recycled kitten swipes taken by a family-friendly charmer that's content to coast by on the casting coup of landing Michael Caine and Robert Duvall under one cinematic roof.

Shy, bookish, and firmly implanted in his social shell, young Walter (Haley Joel Osment) receives a wake-up call when he's unceremoniously dumped off with his two great uncles Garth (Caine) and Hub (Duvall). It could be for a few days but might be for a few months, his mother (Kyra Sedgwick) tells him. Oh, and the two eccentric curmudgeons reportedly are millionaires, so if Walter can figure out where they're stashing their money before mom returns, all the better.
