Gwyneth Paltrow wants her daughter Apple to have an American accent, because she hates the way Brits pronounce basil and pasta.

As the family live in London, 21-month-old Apple speaks her first words with an English accent, but Paltrow is keen to surround her with American friends and family, so she can develop the rest of her vocabulary with a US dialect.

Paltrow says, "She says 'Mummy' instead of 'Mommy'.

"I don't mind that. I will if she starts saying 'basil' and 'pasta' the English way, as that really drives me nuts."
