Gwyneth Paltrow was determined to keep her December (03) wedding a quiet, personal affair because she was sick of being the centre of attention at glamorous celebrity parties.
And she insists the quiet ceremony in California was perfect because it wasn't the red carpet affair she feared her big day would be - and she didn't have her father BRUCE, who died in 2002, to walk her down the aisle.
She says, "I was so happy that I'd found this person and I just wanted to keep it between us, and I thought the only way to do it was to sneak off and do it and surprise everyone.
"Also, I think, I've had a lot of days in my life, where I've had to kind of dress up and put on diamonds and get all the attention, and I associate that with work.
"(For) most brides, it's their big special day and it's this incredible thing, and I sort of wanted to have no attention and I just wanted the opposite."29/08/2004 10:50
