Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow is planning to produce and star in a new film about saucy pre-war beauty Marlene Dietrich.

The SYLVIA star has delighted Dietrich's daughter MARIA RIVA who wrote the memoir, MARLENE DIETRICH, which the DREAMWORKS studio film is based on.

The late German screen siren's grandson PETER RIVA says, "Gwyneth has the stillness required in an aristocrat, and the ability to plumb the depths of character without too much emotion, which was Marlene's trademark."

Dietrich - who died in 1992 at age 90 - was the highest-paid actress of her time, thanks to such films as THE BLUE ANGEL.
