Unlike some of her fellow female celebrities, Gwyneth Paltrow didn't need any shock tactics to get people's attention on the red carpet at last night's Oscars (February 26, 2012). The Contagion actress arrived at last night's ceremony wearing a stunningly simple one-shoulder white dress, with a floor-length white cape, hugging her shoulders.
Gwyneth told US Magazine's reporters on the red carpet that the gown was "courtesy of Tom Ford," the former Gucci designer and critically lauded film director. The outfit is classic Ford: elegant, sleek and simple, with a nod to the past. Paltrow was presenting the award for Best Documentary (awarded to Undefeated), along with her Iron Man co-star Robert Downey Jr. She apparently got ready for the show with one of her close friends, Cameron Diaz, whose co-presenter Jennifer Lopez was the subject of her own fashion talk. Lopez arrived at the awards with a very daring dress that threatened to reveal her breast at one point. But whilst Twitter commentators claimed to have caught a glimpse of JLo's nipple, her stylist has quashed the rumors, saying that it was simply an illusion.
Never one to be outdone, though, it was Angelina Jolie's outfit that really got tongues wagging last night, with its daring thigh-high slit that refused to cover Angelina's right leg. In fact, Angelina's right leg seems to have become a celebrity in its own right, over night, with the new Twitter handle, AngiesRight Leg having gained over 16,000 followers since last night. Luckily for Gwyneth though, she was able to keep everything under wraps and still get people talking.
