Today, female celebrities are subject to intense scrutiny for what they wear, especially if what they’re wearing has the propensity to show a bit of skin. When this goes wrong, the whole world knows about it.

Every year – and the Oscars is a breeding ground for them – a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ takes place, and it’s big big news. Academy award winner Gwyneth Paltrow had some issues with her Alexander McQueen gown she wore to the 2002 Oscars, which was a little bit see-through. "There were a few issues; I still love the dress itself but I should have worn a bra and I should have just had simple beachy hair and less makeup,” she admitted to Glamour. “Then, it would have worked as I wanted it to - a little bit of punk at the Oscars." Still, she learnt from those mistakes, and hasn’t really put a put wrong at any awards ceremonies since. "I have to say that since I started working with stylist Elizabeth Saltzman and have put my red carpet looks in her hands, I think they are all pretty maje," said Gwyneth.

"I can say this because I have just about nothing to do with it. Standouts for me are the pink Prada dress at the 2011 Venice Film Festival, and of course the white Tom Ford from the Oscars last year." This year’s Oscars seemed to be void of these fusion faux pas; the only mishap was Jennifer Lawrence tripping as she went to collect her Best Actress award for Silver Linings Playbook.
