Gwyneth Paltrow's mother claims she was always ''extraordinary.''

The 40-year-old actress's mother Blythe Danner, who is currently starring in the Broadway production 'Nice Work If You Can Get It', believes her daughter was born to entertain but learnt her healthy cooking skills from her late husband Bruce Paltrow.

The 'Meet the Fockers' actress, 70, told the 'Rachel Ray Show' on Tuesday (09.04.13): ''I really do think they come into the world as they're going to be. You can steer a little bit.

''She always was extraordinary. She had a great imagination. We would lie in bed at night and she would make up songs and tell stories. She just had this extraordinary talent. She came into the world with that.''

The mother-of-two, who has a son called Jake, 37, also claimed that she had nothing to do with Gwyneth's talents in the kitchen but is a huge fan of her cookbooks, including her latest publication, 'It's All Good'.

She said: ''She's the great cook. When you walk in the kitchen and I'm cooking it's like a bomb went off!''

Blythe also opened up about her own successful career as an actress and admitted her work keeps her fit and healthy.

She said: ''I just want to work, whoever will hire me. I'm an old lady so I'm just so grateful for anything that comes my way. It keeps you going.''
