Gwen Stefani sometimes hides in her closet to get away from the stress of her life.

The 42-year-old star has to juggle her music career, her work with her fashion lines L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers and her responsibilities as a mother to her sons, five-year-old Kingston and three-year-old Zuma, and occasions she takes a break in her wardrobe.

She said: "Meditation is my thing. But I'm not going to lie: sometimes I go into my closet and lock the door so no one can find me."

Gwen - who is married to Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale - didn't think she would still have a music career when she was over 40 and she says it is more practical to be a fashion designer and a mother, than a pop star and a parent.

In an interview with InStyle magazine, she explained: "I started my first line L.A.M.B. in 2003, because I didn't think I'd still be doing music when I was 40, but I knew I'd be depressed if I wasn't doing something creative. Plus, I love having a job where I can be in my office and look out the window and see my kids playing ... I can't imagine a day off really. I didn't know that all of this would happen at one time - that I'd be a wife and mom, still making records, having clothing lines ... and pulling my hair out."
