An unreleased track by rock titans GUNS N' ROSES has been played on the radio by NEW YORK METS star Mike Piazza.

The baseball catcher was a guest on New York classic rock station Q104.3's FRIDAY NIGHT ROCKS...WITH EDDIE TRUNK, and he brought a CD with him marked 'Guns N' Roses, I.R.S.'

Piazza persuaded Trunk to air the song at 12.15am on Saturday (30AUG03) morning and the station was immediately flooded with calls.

WAXQ-FM programme director BOB BUCHMANN says, "We've gotten hundreds, dare I say thousands, of e-mails since, urging us to play it again. But we can't because the management flipped when they heard it on the air."

While it is unclear whether an official Guns N' Roses track would end up in the hands of a baseball player, the band's management are taking the matter seriously - they eagerly retrieved the CD on Sunday (31AUG03).

Buchmann says, "The truth is, Mike is so passionate about certain music that I would argue that he's on the top ten list of real music fans that a band might circulate their unreleased stuff to."
