Guillemots are currently recording their new album - the follow up to 2008's Red, frontman Fyfe Dangerfield has confirmed. Speaking exclusively in an interview with Contact Music, the musician said, "We're recording it, and it's really good actually, It's quite exciting, and it's been lovely. It's the first time I've ever written a song and been able to bring it into the rehearsal room the next day to start playing and working on it. On the last record we wrote everything together, but on the first record.a lot of the songs I'd had for a few years, so it was really nice to work on things that were so fresh". However, when pushed on the name of the new record he said, "We're thinking of titles at the moment but we just haven't had anything good so far".
Dangerfield released his debut solo album on January 18th 2010, entitled Fly Yellow Moon. His cover of Billy Joel's hit She's Always a Woman was used in a high-profile John Lewis advertisement, with the song peaking at number 7 in the UK charts. Subsequent to the success of the cover, the original hit also re-entered the charts at number 27.
This September, the musician embarks on a nationwide UK tour in support of Fly Yellow Moon, but GUILLEMOTS fans should expect to hear more details on the band's new record in the not-so-distant-future.
