A rising young rapper who associated with Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame has been shot dead in Atlanta, Georgia.
Slim Dunkin, real name is Mario Hamilton, was fatally wounded following an argument in a recording studio on Friday night (16Dec11).
Cops are currently interviewing witnesses and have yet to identify a suspect or recover the handgun thought to have been used in the slaying, according to the Washington Post.
Police chief Keith Meadows tells the Associated Press, "Right now we're just trying to identify who may have seen what, really just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
"It seems everybody witnessed something very different. We're just trying to go back and make sense of everything."
Meadows adds that the hip-hop star was getting ready for a photoshoot when the altercation broke out.
He says, "It appears the victim was scheduled to do a photoshoot. Before the video shoot took place, it appears the victim and suspect got involved in a verbal altercation. We don't know what that altercation was about.
"The suspect produced a weapon, discharged that handgun one time, striking the victim in the chest."
Hamilton was part of the Brick Squad crew which includes successful rappers Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame.
