The Icy hitmaker is currently behind bars after being ordered to serve 39 months in prison last August (14) for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and the sentence was extended by three years in September (14) after he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault following a separate attack on a fan at an Atlanta, Georgia nightclub in March, 2013.

But fans were recently given hope that Gucci Mane, real name Radric Davis, is set to walk free on 11 July (15), after two of his affiliates took to social media and hinted he was being released early.

Atlanta DJ Bankhead shared a snap of his pal on Instagram.com on Saturday (22Jun15) and captioned it, "JULY 11 MY HOMIE BACK IN THE STREETS SALUTE (sic)", while producer Mike Will Made-It appeared to back up the news by taking to Twitter.com on Monday (22Jun15) to write, "#FREEGUCCI big dog coming home!!!"

However, Davis' lawyer, Drew Findling, tells MTV News that the reports are false, and his client will remain in jail - for now.

Findling says, "We do not know where that rumour came from, so that's just internet and social media fabrication. We have no idea where that release date came from because we're still in the midst of resolving things with the Bureau of Prisons. There was some confusion on their part, about his release date."

He adds, "I can't get into specifics, but we're in the midst of corresponding with the Bureau of Prisons. I'm trying to iron out a specific release date for him, but that I can tell you that is not his release date. There's nothing formal about that. It's a product of social media."

As of now, Davis' expected release date is 6 March, 2017.
